MMS Iron Man 2: Iron Man MK VI
There have been six releases by Hot Toys of the iconic Iron Man armor. Two of the previous releases have been done on here: Mark III and Mark IV. I bought all versions of the Mark series from the movies and sold them off unopened each time the next version came out. Seems I was waiting for this baby, as it has all the greatness of the previous five releases, but with added great touches.
It comes in the typical packaging, but notice the additional storage for two sets of armor pieces and the totally separate and sturdy diorama type stand!
Hot Toys may not use diecast, but god bless them, they have two sided instructions… Side A: Japanese, BUT Side B: …ENGLISH!!! I thank you for the English side (if any other company wants to follow suit, I will be grateful).
It comes with accessories to have normal and battle damaged looks. It does not have the bare headed version of the Mark IV, but has a collar to use it (if you don’t own the Mark IV just put the collar away).
Many of the features in the other reviews are present. Light-up features, extreme posability, and wonderful craftsmanship. It equals their greatness, but I think the color scheme is a richer red than on the Mark III.
I love the triangle shaped unibeam, a homage to some of my favorite Iron Man armors (anyone remember the red and white late 80’s version in the comic???) The chest plate changes between normal and battle damaged.
As do the legs.
It also has spring extending countermeasures in the hips, and back/leg flaps exactly like the Mark IV version.
I liked that the metal grating separates from the flap to create a cool look, but it keeps the closed position from resting nice and flush.
Typical rocket aspects come out of the gauntlet and you can change the forearm into rocket mode, as seen on the normal arm and SPARE damaged arm parts!
The plates to put on right arm to add damage look are also nice.
The instructions also spoke of a waist that bends and moves like a snake scaled body… it does provide nice movement.
On top of the extra head (Tony’s face shown, with posable mask, but then no light up feature), extra arm, and all the cool damaged plating items… you get a cool diorama stand from the final scene of the movie in addition to the normal Hot Toys stand!
It has a clear plastic pole with a cool clasp to hold Iron Man in awesome positions.
As always 1/6th scale or 1/3 a TAB can.
Finally, the heads and hands, like on the other releases are great. My favorite are the hands with every digit totally movable!
I am so glad I decided to wait for this guy. I preordered it for 199.99 USD plus shipping (shipping was cheap, used pile-o-loot) and I am glad I did. He went from “preorder” to “sold out” immediately. I recommend all these Iron Men, but with the extra diorama stand, arm, and battle damaged plates, this seems to be the one to get.
Adios
