3 comments postedMy prejudice would obviously be for the V-19 since it is the only SW item [from 2008] that I got this year. However, I know how much the Falcon is liked, and though I wouldn't want one, it is a pretty cool toy- were I about 10 years younger, it might have dominated my thoughts.
So, I'm a little torn here...

Clone Wars R2 is good, but the stubborn door on his right side makes it a definite "meh" for me.
Don't have the 4-LOM, so can't comment.
Mighty Muggs are cool and all, but not worthy of a "Best of 2008" prize.
A-Wing reissue is definitely sharp. New cockpit, great pack-in figure. This was my second choice.
Lego V-19 is very neat. Love the mechanics of the wings and landing gear. However, it's still not as good as the A-Wing or my number 1...
Legacy BMF. It's a monster, so I consider it more of a playset than a vehicle. However, it has everything that would've wanted when I was six years old. Wish the sound effects weren't so dang loud, but other than that, incredible toy.

Hands down. It's a piece people have been asking Hasbro to do since 1996. It's a good value for the money. It's most triumphantly DX with it's size and sounds. Sure, true uber purists can complain about scale, decorations, and action features, but that's more a testament to ridiculousness than problems on Hasbro's fault.
In the 3 3/4-scale world, this toy will achieve in time the legendary status that the GI JOE USS FLAGG and Space Station DEFIANT currently hold: high demand, DX size, and high price- a centerpiece for the 3 3/4 collector. For most of the 90's my obsession with 3 3/4-scale playsets was in full swing and I owned most of them from most of the lines of the 70s-80s, and this definitely holds its own with the best.
As for the rest of the choices: Clone Wars R2-D2- more of the same, nice but nothing special; Kotobukiya 4-LOM - too much $$ for what it is; Mighty Muggs C-3PO - same mold, different paint, nice, but not TOTY:SW quality; Hasbro A-Wing Fighter (Wal-Mart exclusive) - another minor retool at a high $$$, bleh; Lego V-19 Torrent- I still feel that adults should leave LEGO STAR WARS alone, it's bad enough for kids into action figures with all the scalpers out there...
