Neo Getter 1 is another quality Revoltech release, available from HobbyLink Japan.

Neo Getter Robo comes from an alternate universe, different than the one that the Revoltech Getter Dragon comes from. It's an entirely different series from Getter Robo: Armageddon.

The toy comes from the series Shin Getter Robo vs. Neo Getter Robo, a four-disc Japanese OVA from 2000.

Personally I am a big fan of the Neo Getter designs. They seem right at home with the classic Getter aesthetic. I only wish we would get designs of Neo Getter 2 and 3. And while we are on the subject, where the hell is my Texas Mac Revoltech?

So the toy is cool, as you would expect, and there are a few neat things they have done with it.

The back of the legs have collapsable panels that enables Neo Getter 1 to achieve more dynamic poses.

Neo Getter comes with a few accessories:

• two pairs of optional hands
• chain knuckles
• Plasma Thunder
• chain knuckle effect
• knife holder
• knife
• machine gun
• shoulder missile launchers
• display base with joint arm

The included option hands are the standard fare - gun holding hands and open hands. The open hands have hinged wrists.

The hands can be swapped out with Chain Knuckles - Long chains attached to fired fists. The chains are fixed pose, so you are stuck in they pose they are in. To add to the effect they have added a yellow burst effect that is placed on the arm to make it look like it is firing.

The optional hands can hold either a gun or a knife, and the knife can be stored in a special holder that attaches to the back. Unfortunately, the right holding hand sits loosely in the arm and has a tendency to fall out, something I have never experienced in a Revoltech before.

The Plasma Thunder effect is a large translucent blue energy bolt that attaches to one of the open hands. The part has a peg that fits firmly into the palm of the hand.

Probably the coolest accessory is with the shoulder missile launchers. The launchers attach to the back of the figure and can actually open up. Using a small Revoltech joint as a hinge, you lift the top up and then swing out and rotate a concealed missile.

All of this of course comes with the standard Revoltech stand, coin and container.

The re-imagined Getter Dragun from "Getter Robo: Armageddon" is realized in Revoltech form!

This version of Getter Dragon is an updated version that appeared in the 1998 OVA series "Change!! Getter Robo" or "Getter Robo: Armageddon" as it is known in the west.

A lot of people, myself included, did not like Getter Robo Armageddon. I thought it was too confusing, and it was based on a continuity I was not familiar with. The opening few episodes were alright, but once the Nuclear Warheads destroyed civilization, it was all pretty much crap.

One of the redeeming aspects of the series was the opportunity to see the original Getter Robo fight against an army of mass-produced Getter Dragons. It's pretty awesome, although all of the Getter D robots get their asses handed to them.

That new version of Getter Dragon is due to get a SOC version, but Kaiyodo beat Bandai to the punch by releasing this Revoltech version.

The Revoltech Getter Dragon is a cool little toy. Revoltech joints are all over the figure, making for a wide range of motion and poses.

Accessories include:

• two pairs of optional hands
• interchangeable head with Getter Beam
• beam effect
• Mach Wings
• boomerang Getter Tomahawk
• two Getter Tomahawks
• display base with joint arm

The optional hands include two axe-holding hands and two open hands. The open hands have a hinge in the wrist for added articulation.

The Getter Tomahawks are large and sharp. You can hold one in each hand.

To replicate the boomerang attack, Kaiyodo included a dual Getter Tomahawk that can be attached to the stand and be spun manually for visual effect.

The large Mach Wings attach to the back of the shoulders by simple pegs and are not articulated.

An alternate head is included that has an attached Getter Beam ray. It's a nice effect, and having it permanently attached to the head keeps from having small peg breakage. For added effect, a small "beam effect" part is included that replicates the effect of the beam on the landscape.

Finally, your standard Revoltech stand is included, as well as a Revoltech coin and box.

Hokuto no Ken, more commonly known in the west as the Fist of the North Star is the long running kung-fu fighting franchise that has set the standard for everything to come out of Shonen Jump from Dragonball to Naruto. Like all long running Shonen series, its the kind of thing that is defined by memorable villains. Raoh is almost legendary in Japan You'd have to be to get buried with a real funeral just as a movie promotion. The man who strive to become the end of the century ruler is now available in Revoltech form. This figure represents Raoh during his final fight at the end of the series. I won't get too heavy into spoilers so just sit back and enjoy the shirtless muscleman.

First off I'd like to take a look at the packaging. I've been slacking on my Revoltech purchasers so I was a bit surprised to see this guy in box. I swear there's more filler than the Hokuto no Ken anime series. Everything from the figure itself to the stand and even the Revoltech token have their own spot on in the tray. It's a bit much for Raoh.

Like the previous Rei figure I review, Raoh has an incredibly well done paint job. Every little detail is done with the same level of quality as a model. Raoh stands well enough with or without his stand.

Raoh features the same joint scheme as Rei where most of his joints are done with the trademark Revoltech clicky joints with the only major exception being his hips which are mono-shaft style. The suspenders on his pants are also movable. His hips are kind of strange. They can't quite move the same way as a normal figure's but it still works well enough. Its kind of personal preference with the Hokuto no Ken figures.

Up close you can get a feel of the figure's paint job. His skin features nice subtle highlighting and his hair is nice a crisp with little to no paint globbing.

Raoh's few accessories include his signature crown. Compared to the original design it looks slightly oversized. Still its detailed and spiky.

Raoh will not fall for anyone!

I have mixed feelings about this Raoh figure. While its a nice figure, he's a bit more sparse than your typical Hokuto no Ken Revoltech. I feel like a shirtless chest could have just been included with the standard figure somehow. Maybe you're a completest or you may just like shirtless men, but Raoh is still a great figure.

Revoltech is back on CDX!

Gloomy is a character created by designer Mori Chack. Gloomy at first seems to be your typical cute bear, but then you notice the claws, and then the blood. The story behind this is Gloomy is found by a boy named Petty. Gloomy is cute as first, but as he grows he begins to attack Petty. I first learned about Gloomy in 2002 I think, with these crazy animated gif files of this pink bear beating up a kid. It was a chance encounter in Tokyo's Kiddy Land toy store in 2003 that I saw my first Gloomy merchandise. I thought it was awesome of course.

Years went by and Gloomy began to invade America. First in comic stores and import shops, later in stores like Hot Topic.

I'm actually surprised it has taken this long for there to be a real action figure of this.

So, Gloomy Bear comes in the new style Revoltech box, which is larger with more things visible. Included in the set is Gloomy, Petty, two stands, a muzzle, blood and a Revoltech container.

The Gloomy figure is not bad at all. Yamaguchi did a good job of trying to hide the joints.

Articulation is not bad, but there is only so much you can do with the figure. You have Revoltech joints in the head, shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. There is also a swivel joint in the waist. At the end of each arm the whole claw assembly is on a hing that allows doe smooth movement.

The figure cannot stand on its own due to the rounded legs, so you will need the stand for that. Gloomy's often depicted sitting, and that works just fine.

Gloomy is a naughty grizzly bear. If the blood stains on his chest and claws isn't warning enough, there is a translucent red blood accessory that attaches to the bottom of the nose. One neat feature is that the nose and ears are connected to each other and moveable. If you pull the ears back, the nose will move.

Included in the set is a figure of the victim - a small boy named Petty-chan. Petty is fully articulated, but the only Revoltech joint is a dual joint in the neck. Petty comes with two heads, but swapping them is a pain in the ass. Taking the head off is fine, but getting that dual joint into the hole in the head is near impossible. I needed to use a pencil eraser to stuff it in.

The best accessory in the whole set is the muzzle. It gives Gloomy a Hannibal Lechter vibe. To put the muzzle on, you have to remove the head.

Also included with the figure is a Revoltech coin (used to redeem for special items) and a Revoltech Container. This amber case has a removable lid with holes the size of Revoltech joints.

Unlike the Doko Demo Issyo Revoltech, this is my style. I have a soft spot for Gloomy, and this is a great toy regardless of the character. You can get your Revoltech Gloomy Bear from HobbyLink Japan.

This is one of the very few toys that depict G1 Ultra Magnus when he's not wearing his battle armour. And it's really nice, too.

Ultra Magnus is one of those popular robots, who often appears in the Transformers universe, but, to chagrin of many fans, as a direct redeco of Optimus Prime aka. Convoy. And so he did in the Revoltech line, being a Friendly Shop exclusive. Yes, he's just a repaint. But to do him justice, this is one of the best representations of this character I've ever seen.

Ultra Magnus is often represented as Optimus Prime's twin brother, which gives Hasbro a good excuse to exploit this albino Transformer. Thankfully, this time he is exploited by Kaiyodo, with great results.

There are many armourless toys of this character, but they just don't feel like Generation 1 Ultra Magnus, which this toy depicts. This one not only does, but also is based on his comic appeareance. In the show Magnus never took off his battle suit so that kids don't mistake him for Prime. However, Dreamwave's G1 comics were intended for older fans who had no problem in differing the two.

Ultra Magnus takes a major part in War and Piece story arc in which Earth based TFs return to Cybertron only to find it ruled by Shockwave, Magnus being one of his law enforcers. At one stage of the story, Magnus disagrees with Shockwave on how to handle the Earth Autobots, so Shockwave supposedly beats him to death and leaves to kill Prime. UM survives the encounter at the cost of his armour being destroyed and when he appears to aid Optimus later on, it is revealed that he dons a white copy of Prime's body. And exactly this form of Magnus is represented by this Revoltech.

What can I say, I'm not a great fan of Pat Lee's Transformers, but they fit in the Revoltech line perfectly. Magnus just looks fabulous, he's sharp and definitely has some character. He almost looks alive. Even if this design doesn't immediately suggest his comic persona is capable of actually transforming into a trailer cab, it has some very cool details which make it somewhat more realistic (if you can say so about Lee's way of drawing robots)

And now to show you how big he is (sorry, I didn't have Yotsuba when I took the pictures yet), my Nokia 6120c...yes, that's armoured Ultra Magnus on the screen ^^

I find it quite interesting that this is one of the very few Revoltech that have their arms designed to be bent a bit outwards without the ability to squeeze them any closer to the torso. It's not a tragedy, but this may prove a bit unhandy when trying to do some poses where our Autobot is supposed to hold his hands and arms as close to each other as possible. Also noteworthy, the head and neck are double jointed so they can imitate movements of pidgeon's head :P

Legs are shown just so you can see the nice details applied there. And, they are designed to work with the base of Revoltech stand, if you ever happen to have a spare one.

I must say, I'm quite impressed by the Revoltech joints and how hard it is to tell where the separate pieces begin.

Magnus comes with some accessories, which include an Ion Rifle with rotating handle, and 4 extra hands, which include a pointing hand, an opened one, one to hold the rifle...and some weird looking one.

With his design and accessories, Ultra Magnus can achieve various cool looking poses.

“Um, if I can propose something, let's just blow this planet to tiny little bits and forget about the whole war thing, ok?”

If I didn't knew better, I could almost swear he's trying to copy one of Sailor Moon's poses...

Ok, I think the weird hand thingie needs some explaining. Many Revoltech accessories are designed to interact with other toys from the line, and this one isn't exception. What you want to do is you plug the hand from one side to Magnus and to Prime on the other end, so that they can shake hands like brothers sometimes do. I was almost sorry I didn't have Convoy while taking these pictures (they're about a year old ^^)

Some of you could probably see this coming. They both are action figures and yet they are so different that I recently lost any reason to compare them as toys competing for your wallet's insides. Still, they look good next to each other on the shelf.

When I was preparing these pictures I wasn't interested in full-time collecting of Revoltech and so the piece you see here was borrowed from a friend collector. However, now that I actually began collecting them I wish I had this toy, I just find so much more unique and interesting then Convoy. A word of advice, should you spot this guy somewhere, don't hesitate and get him, there's no way you'll regret it.

Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star) is one of my favorite shows. I mean, I must have liked it enough to watch all of it, right? With all the crazy martial artist running around, all with their own unique gimmicks I find that the school of Nanto Seiken is the most interesting. As much as exploding people's heads (and other parts) can be, slicing people up like a living blade is just downright cool.

Rei is one of these practitioners who uses a specific style called Nanto Suicho Ken. With it, Rei is able to slice almost anything with a wave of his hands. Easily one of my favorite characters. For the 25th anniversary of the franchise, Kaiyodo is releasing several Hokuto No Ken characters through their Revoltech Revolution line. How does their Rei measure up? Let's find out.

At first glance, Rei is quite detailed. All of the belts, buckles, pads, etc. are nicely painted with little to no apparent defects. Rei is styled after his look in the recent Hokuto no Ken OVAs, which in turn is modeled after his look in the manga. The TV series is the only place where Rei has a primarily green outfit with minty fresh hair.

From the rear we can see the stand mount and some more of his Revoltech joints. Rei has thirteen Revoltech joints in total. They are found in his neck, shoulders, shoulder pads, elbows, wrists, knees, and ankles. He has three sets of hands, which includes a pair of fists, and two sets with his fingers splayed out in slightly different ways.

Rei's largest accessory is this Fang Clan midget. This guy was originally included in a much older Rei semi-fixed pose figure. When Rei is introduced to the story, the Fang Clan are the current antagonists. Like any good tribe of post-apocalyptic thugs, the Fang Clan employs small guys for the purpose of leaping off the backs of bigger guys. Fang Clan guy comes with a sword and an axe, which he can wield in his right hand.

This little bugger's only feature is some sliced and diced action. The sliding action isn't particularly smooth, but the overall effect is nice.

Up close, the detailing is readily apparent. Lots of subtle shading around his skin, clothing, and hair along with the excellent detailing in Rei's outfit make for an eye catching figure.

In profile we can see that Rei is rocking an epic mullet worthy of John Stamos. Also note the textured look of Rei's shoulder pads. Up close it has the look and feel of embattled metal.

Rei's kneepads have the same metal texture. It's really well done.

Nanto Ko Ha Ryu!

Rei poses as well as any Revoltech figure. The toy includes a small leaflet that suggests that you should use pliers to rotate all of his joints to remove the initial stiffness from assembly. I find needle-nose pliers with electrical tape around the ends works well for this. Kaiyodo also suggests using their patented Revolpliers, which are designed to grip Revoltech joints.

Perhaps my biggest complaint with this figure are the old style Mono-shaft joints in his hips. They do not offer a full range of motion, and while they do not stand out as much as the Revoltech joints I just find them awkward. Putting Rei in a natural pose can be difficult with these joints.

Rei comes packed with the ubiquitous Revoltech stand. This may or may not be the stand that comes with Rei. They're mostly identical so it doesn't matter anymore.

As you can see, Rei stays secure on the stand in any position.

Syaaaaoooooo!

If you're really ambitious, you can plug Rei's right foot into the Revoltech joint on the stand to make him leap even higher. This is not especially stable and takes some time to balance.

The joints in his arms in addition to the jointed shoulder pads allow Rei to perform many of his classic moves.

This is just a silly comparison. Although I must admit Rei looks a lot bigger in photos than Rei usually does.

The CollectionDX debate has escalated

Overall, Revoltech Rei is an excellent figure. He looks great and poses really well. Really a top class action figure that is quite above some of the regular Revoltech toys in terms of execution. Kaiyodo has also released a white haired version that reflects the later parts of Rei's story. I'd be interested in an TV show colored version, but that's probably not going to happen. Truly a toy that is as graceful as a swan on the water.

There's no denying that she's cute, but with all Street Fighters, she is equally deadly.

The figure is sculpted well enough, and has none of the odd proportions that plague the other figures in the series. Her outfit features beautiful tampo printing.

Accessories are limited to a stand and variant hands. One variant hand is a poison tipped claw.

The revoltech joints enable you to have some fantastic poses.

My favorite character from the 1994 movie "Street Fighter" starring Raoul Julia

Chun-Li was my favorite character in the completely underrated Street Fighter Movie. Man, that movie kicked so much ass. Ming Na is a total hottie.

I mean, what more can you ask for in a movie. Raoul Julia in his greatest role as M. Bison, Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile... this movie is totally underappreciated. I also heard they made some videogames for the movie.

This Revoltech toy does not look a THING like Ming Na. I mean, seriously? I thought the Japanese were great toy sculptors. Ming Na must be PISSED.

The dress isn't even the right color...

Aaah sometimes I amuse myself. Seriously though, who does not know Chun-Li? I've been battling her in some form or another since 1991. In a sense, she is my nemesis...

Anyway, this version of Chun-Li comes from the Street Fighter Online Mouse Generation video game. This on-line fighting game is all in Japanese, and requires just a mouse to play. The general consensus is that the game sucks.

This figure though, does not suck. It's actually pretty cool, in my opinion. Sure, she does not come with many accessories, but she just looks great.

Sculpted by Bome and Taichi Katoh, Bome being a name that should be recognizable to figure fans. The character retains her traditional Street Fighter looks, but her appearance is altered to represent her look in the game, which is played with actual on-screen Revoltech figures.

Accessories include variant hands, a stand, and a fireball attack that attaches to the palms of the open hands.

If you are a fan of the classic Street Fighter characters, this is a must have.

Enkidu is the Gunmen piloted by one of the main protagonists in the anime Gurren Lagann. Need more info?.......

Today I will be reviewing Enkidu from the anime Gurren Lagann. Enkidu is number 064 in Kaiyodo's outrageously popular Revoltech line. Enkidu comes in the very familiar window box like all the other figures in the Revoltech lineup.

Just in case that you are not familiar with the character, Enkidu is the Gunmen piloted by one of the main protagonists, Viral, in the anime Gurren Lagann. Need more info?....... Read here.

Enkidu comes with the usual Revoltech array of accessories, Including different hands, sickle, shins and stand. The sickle accessory is my favorite, it can attach to the figures head or be held in either hand. The figure and looks really cool when posed holding the sickle.

And I must admit, Pierre is a cute toy, he is esthetically pleasant and as soon as Josh asked me if I wanted him I said an immediate yes.

Because Pierre is a Revoltech, you can expect quality. He has joints with ratchet action, his paint job is done very well, and he has much play value. Like the other Doko Demo Issyo figures there are multiple snap on faces for different expressions depending on how you are posing him and which accessories he is using. Pierre has four different interchangeable faces a smile, a smirk, a laughing, and a content. To change his face is a bit of a pain, you can grasp Pierre by the ears and slowly work the front of the face off. It is hard to do the first time, but I think the toy begins to loosen up a bit after you change it a few times. Maybe there is an easier way to do this but the directions are written in Japanese. This line of Revoltech reminds me a little of the Mr. Potato Head toy I had when I was young.

Pierre's accessories include, a flower, a telephone, a folded up newspaper, a glass of wine, and bandanna, for use with the cat Doko Demo Issyo. Pierre also included a set of the Cat's legs, go figure. ( another cleverly included item to encourage the purchase of the other items in the line) The accessories are easy to implement. They have little pegs that insert into the hands which have a hole for the peg.

Pierre comes with a Revoltech stand, otherwise he could not stand on his own. Like the accessories it is a peg fitting into a hole mechanism.

I found this toy rather pleasant, there was some play value, and if you were to have the whole lot of the Doko Demo Issyo toys they would look good displayed together, not to mention some of the parts interchangeable too.

Like Josh said in the Ricky review, these toys are not for everyone, but there is a definite attraction with women. As Josh's wife and myself both liked these toys. If I had all of the Doko Demo Issyo series I would display them and play with them.
