Even though I got no love

Even though I got no love for Groizer X, I do plan to get one for my collection.

It's a Go Nagai after all.

same here

I have no love for Groizer either when I first saw him I thought he was a kikaiju but if it's still in stock after I get a few other things out of the way I'll buy it just for the fact it's Go Nagai

I first knew him from the

I first knew him from the three-part special where they make Great Mazinger comes with his allies to save Mazinger Z and Aphrodite A, but get defeated by the General of Darkness. And then get saved by Shin getter Robo and Grendaizer.

Speaking of Groizer X as a Kikaju... in Shin Mazinger Shogeki! Z Hen, there was a kikaju called "Groizer X-10" used by Count Brocken. Probaply a nod to Go Nagai's original Groizer X.

Groizer is an awesome

Groizer is an awesome figure. I have the original colored version and I love it. It's full of die-cast goodness. I hope Yamato will continue is G-NU Hagane line of Gokin.

I lucked out!

I really scored a great deal. Get this, I got my Groizer for 4740 yen, shipping is another 4800 yen, but get this, I got mine with free shipping during an HLJ promotion! Then I enter this sweet HLJ contest with my manga Groizer-X and I win grand prize...for a Neo Mazinger Jumbo!

so basically I got an awesome Groizer-X AND a Mazinger jumbo for 4740 yen ($50)!! Great deal huh? Technically free because my mom/wife got me Groizer for Christmas :)

As far as the figure goes, same here, I though Groizer was just really strange looking. Then Sanjeev's review of the anime color made me want it. I got it and loved it. As soon as the manga version was drastically reduced it was a no brainer. Seriously if youre not a fan, but love diecast robots, you need to jump on this sale while it lasts. Its a darn fine figure. I dont play with my robots much, but Groizer-x is full of my fingerprints, and Im always taking him out of my case

I have the original too and

I have the original too and love the look and how well it goes with Go Nagai SOC's, with that said it feels pretty cheap to me especially in Bomber mode where the wings constantly fall off. But as one of Yamato's first attempt at a high-end diecast figure it's a decent job but the difference/evolution between Groizer and Danguard Ace is like night and day.

The HLJ sale is

The HLJ sale is tempting....but....any chance the Yamato Danguard Ace may get discounted in the near future? :)

I can't imagine,

I can't imagine, unfortunately. That one seems to have done much better, and is holding its value. Which is, of course, why I don't have one either :P

in search of the Perfect Transformation

" In the Transformers world, Groizer X would be called a "Partsformer", meaning it changes form by adding and removing parts, rather than rearrangement of existing parts. While not very toy-like, it is the only way to achieve both modes that can only happen through "anime magic". "

I've got to give a shout out to Keida Kanzen, who's hobby is re-designing transforming/combining robots in such a way that their parts no not seperate. It blew my mind when I saw his perfect transformation Groizer X.

Check it out: http://www.ne.jp/asahi/mecha/keida/kanzen-page/groizerx.html

That aside, I'm definitely picking up a Groizer X next pay day. I would have gotten one sooner, but the price kept dropping so I thought I'd wait.
