Megazord (Black)

Bandai has a history of creating black versions of toys as limited editions or lucky draw prizes. Once seen as a way to get more mileage out of a mold, it’s now become somewhat of a tradition for Japanese toys.

Not so for american toys. That is, for two exceptions. Bandai has imported these black versions for limited sales in the US twice – once for the original Megazord, once for the Lost Galaxy Megazord. Well this release is an homage to that original megazord release – the Legacy Black Megazord.

A Toys R Us exclusive, the Black Megazord is a repaint of the Legacy Megazord. It’s the same exact mold, but now molded in black and gold, with new stickers.

If you’ve read those reviews, nothing much has changed. In my opinion, I like the uniform color scheme of the Black Megazord better. It’s classier.

Like the original, the Megazord breaks down into it’s component zords:

Triceratops

On each zord, the diecast parts are now a gold diecast. and the stickers have been replaced with black and gold stickers.

Megazord

The combined megazord is a sexy beast. It can wield the shield and gold-plated sword.

I for one would love a black version of every Megazord. Sadly, because only select Megazords got the treatment, I suspect we will see few of these versions.
