Reviewing these new Machine Robo toys really makes me sad that I missed the boat on them when they came out. At least I have the joy of tracking them down to look forward to.
This new series re-imagines classic Machine Robo (GoBots) designs with modern engineering. These new designs are also seen through the lens of the Revenge of Chronos anime series.
Originally known as Tank, the original Gobots toy was as basic as it comes. Well thankfully Action Toys and Awaken Studios have had a stab at it, and now its not only good looking but it has a suitable transformation.
Box is Box.
In robot mode it's a stocky brawler, with great articulation and fantastic detail.
Battle Robo is ready to kick your ass.
The large cannon detaches to become a weapon, mounted either on the forearm or hand-held.
Transformation is relatively simple, but fun, and again, all the little tabs lock the whole thing together for a solid alt mode.
The entire cannon assembly rotates, and each cannon can move up and down.
And again, no wheels molded into the tank treads. All the Action Toys Machine Robo toys seem to be missing wheels.
Compared to the original Gobot, you can see the difference in size and complexity. I would have liked it if the new version used the original colors, but I don't mind the change too much.
The display stand is the same modular stand that is included with all the releases, and you can connect all the bases together.
A small attachment is included so that you can connect Battle Robo to the display stand.
These are super fun releases. Thanks to Awaken Studios for these samples!
