DC Direct was kind enough to show us around their showroom and give us a peek at what’s new in 2007.
First up is their DC Unlimited product, these are items that are available thru regular retail. World of Warcraft is getting a series of statues and Afro Samurai is getting a line of action figures
Then the rest of the showroom is DC Direct items. These are collectibles only available thru the direct market, i.e. your local comic book store.
Minimates are tiny cute interpretations of classic DC heroes and villains usually sold in sets of two. Because the line is so tiny they can afford to do characters that are not always popular. Finally, characters like Deadman and Blue Beetle get immortalized in plastic.
Collectible figures packed in blind boxes are a popular collectible in Japan and now DC is trying the same thing with their characters in a line called Who’s Who.
Lot’s of action figures are coming as well. Figures from 52 Weeks, the new incarnation of the Justice League of America as well as a bunch of reissues of classic DC lines will be hitting the shelves of your local comic shop. Finally, you too can own a Booster Gold figure.
If action figures are not your thing then you might want to try some of DC’s higher end collectibles like their statues. Covering everything from Sandman to covers of the JLA there is bound to be something to tickle your fancy.
And last off is the line of 13-inch deluxe superheroes. Sculpted in the 1/6th 12-inch scale these are a head taller to help the characters appear more heroic.
