All right guys, Hasbro had a few cool things to show off this year. There was some really neat stuff like their MTT Battle Droid Transport and a Jar Jar Binks figure... yes, read on to see what I mean.
This is the big MTT Battle Droid Transport. The front section is motorized so that it comes out with all the droids hanging from it just like the movie! You get 20 droids which is great but sixteen of them are fixed pose. The other four are standard droids. I can totally understand why this was done. It features sounds to simulate what you would experience on-screen. The designer was on-hand during the demonstration and he seemed to be very proud of it. Rightly so.
According to Hasbro, this will be a totally new Darth Vader Sculpt. Look at the leg articulation!
Here's our buddy Jar Jar. Some of you may be thinking "what the heck?" but oh, it gets better.
You see, Hasbro is putting together an Exclusive that includes a Jar Jar in Carbonite! Hasbro designers shared with us that they enjoyed this project VERY MUCH. The back side has the same sculpt except it doesn't have Jar Jar in it. It's sunken in so that you can place the regular Jar Jar Binks figure to emulate him coming out of stasis. Very cool. One of the only reasons I would ever get a Jar Jar figure... so I can freeze him forever so as to never again taint a movie.
Ok, so I need about 30 of these...can I get some sort of discount, please?
If modifications and outfitting weapons is your thing, then you may like these sets which allow you to configure your ships in various ways. The line is called AMP'D
Hasbro went into the "vault" to look for some old ideas that were originally to be used on older toys and found some stuff that was given to Mr. Lucas to approve before he finally chose the silver logo cards were are now familiar with today. This was one of the designs that weren't chosen. The design was cleaned up a bit and this was the result.
If roleplay is your thing, there was some of that to be seen too.
Finally some light-up saber action! While really cool and really bright there are some drawbacks. For starters, this will eliminate an elbow joint to accommodate the wiring. Second, the battery is fixed and will not be replaceable. But hey, it's a LIGHT UP LIGHT SABER!
Although I'm not into this Pod game of theirs, I wouldn't mind having a little Vader or Stormtrooper. I picked up some samples which are blind-packaged and of course I got 2 figures I don't care about. Might be crack-like to some fans I presume.
