Snow Cat
Snow Cat comes from the Transformers Energon Series, released in 2004 by Hasbro. He’s a Decepticon, which means he is a bad guy, although he doesn’t look bad at all.
Snowcat is a type of artic rover. It can roll around on wheels, or you can slide down little skis that go under the front wheels (this is called the Hypermode). The wiper blade moves and the plastic on the windshield is smooth where the wiper has been, giving the illusion of a freshly cleaned glass; a nice touch. He has one Energon connection point on the back of the vehicle.
Those with a sharp eye will notice the similarity between the vehicle mode of Snow Cat and a GI Joe vehicle named Snow Cat.
Transformation is retardedly simple. You don’t even need instructions. In robot mode, he’s pretty well articulated, but the ski fins don’t stay up.
In Hypermode, the cannons go up over his shoulders, and his leg panels become skis. I have to say, these Hypermodes are kind of lame. They should just be cool play features. The missiles do fire, and they travel a good distance.
I guess I am just spoiled by high-end toys like Soul of Chogokin. Snow Cat is fun enough, but doesn’t make me go “WOW” in any way. It reminds me of those transformers that came out after they stopped basing them on just cars. Transformer fans should dig it because of its quality construction, and nice design. It’s good hand-candy, but otherwise underwhelming.
