Super Fire Convoy is basically a giant fire engine that can transform into a variety of modes. First off is your basic “Fire Commander: Fire Convoy” mode. Convoy is the most articulated in this mode, due to the lack of armor. Everything moves, and he even has a waist joint. In this mode, the rest of the parts combine to form a base (not shown). The base is pretty lame – it seems like an afterthought.

The real treat is the combined mode of Super Fire Convoy. The base and Fire Commander combine to form a truly impressive robot. You can still fit the gun into convoy’s hand in this mode, but it looks so small. There is a place on the shoulder reserved for it in this mode. You can swing the ladder over his shoulder and fire the missiles as well.

Transformation is easy, but the tricky thing is keeping the parts on. The shoulder pads tend to pop off pretty easily.

In vehicle mode, Super Fire Convoy is solid, and looks fantastic. Press the small button between the lights to activate lights and one of 5 sounds and phrases (all in Japanese). The detail is amazing, right down to the rubber tires with “Fire Convoy” printed on them. The missiles on the ladder have a great action feature. One button on the back of the ladder fires all the missiles at once! You can also press a button on the front of the ladder to pop out the two nozzles underneath.

Super Fire Convoy can also combine with Ultra Magnus to form God Fire Convoy. Unfortunately, God Fire Convoy is too intricate for its own good, and looks kind of awkward. It is a pain in the ass to assemble, and doesn’t like to stand up. Do it once to say you did, then put them back into their respective forms.

This is the best toy in the Transformers Car Robots. The US version is a pretty faithful copy, with some minor changes for the american market, such as an english language voice chip, and other small cosmetic changes.
