Getter 3
How many different Getter Robo series are there now? For most of us old-school fans there is only Getter Robo and Getter Robo G (aka Starvengers from Force 5). There have been several incarnations of Getter Robo since then, including Shin Getter, New Getter, Neo Getter… The list goes on. And with all these new anime series we have also gotten new toys. The thing is, all of the toys have been of the same. Damn. Character.
Getter 1.
Well, the cool cats at Kaiyodo have done what we have waited so long for – they made toys of the other Getters! The Revoltech series has not only done Getter 1 from New Getter Robo, but they have made Getter 2 and 3 as well! It’s about time those other Getter modes got some love.
The Getter 3 Revoltech toy is a really unique thing.

Instead of legs, the Getter 3 has three treads to move around on. While the treads here are just solid molded plastic, the Revoltech joints add in an extra level of articulation that you wouldn’t expect with a figure like this.
Getter 3 has 12 or 14 Revoltech joints, depending on how he is displayed. The head, chest, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and feet all have Revoltech joints.
In terms of accessories, Getter 3 does not have many, but what it has is pretty cool. The figure comes with one set of extra hands, and additional arm sections. You can add the arm section at the shoulder and it gives the appearance that Getter 3 can stretch his arms out to great lengths. This also gives the figure two extra Revoltech joints, hence the 14 joints.
The legs are pretty interesting. The rear leg is fixed and attached to the body, and acts as the pivot point that supports the other two legs. Each leg has a Revoltech joint at the hip, knee and then at the front of the tread where it meets the leg. They are challenging to pose nicely, and you can’t really do a lot with them, but they look damn cool.
The figure can also go into a sort of battle tank mode, where it gets crouched down and points its shoulder missile launchers forward.
This is a pretty cool figure, but I really wish the treads worked. I understand at a 1,900 yen price point this isn’t realistic, but it would have been cool.
Now all I need is Getter 2 to complete the set! Santa, are you listening?
