Nothing gets my blood going like a “going out of business” sale. I will watch the place like a hawk, watching how the prices drop. 20%, 30%, 40% off; each week the prices got lower and lower, and I carefully wait for the right moment to strike. There’s a magic spot when good things start to go before prices get ridiculously low. If you go too early, you pay too much. If you wait too long, you will be left with the scraps.

When I heard that Tower Records was going out of business, I made a point to stop by every week. I was surprised to see some Japanese toys there but none of them striked my interest. Even the Bome figures, which are generally nice looking, did not appeal to me at 25% off. I just can’t get into non-poseable figures, no matter who nice looking they are.

An interesting thing happens though, when 25% off becomes 75% off. Suddenly things I wouldn’t have considered buying before I am grabbing like it is no tomorrow. Cheapie Ultraman figures, Touma vinyls and even the Bome figure – all at 75% off. Not to mention the stack of CDs I got. I felt like I was robbing the place.

But I digress…

The point is that this is not something I would usually buy, but because of the cheap price, I thought I would get it, if only to review it for the site.

Kos-Mos

Kos-Mos is the 8th figure in the Mon-Sieur Bome Collection by Kaiyodo. She comes from Xenosaga, a video game series that has spawned into other media including Anime. Kos-Mos is apparently some kind of battle android.

The figure stands 8.5 inches tall and has ZERO points of articulation. While I am not a fan of statues, I have to admit that the paint and sculpt and detail are awesome on this figure. I can see why people go nuts over Bome figures. From the translucent plastic used on the hair, to the detailing on the gun, everything looks just right.

Kos-Mos comes with a base that she can be affixed securely to. The base is meant to look like an artifact in the Xenosaga game called a Zohar.

If you are a fan of this type of figure then I can’t imagine you not liking this.
