Invincible Robot Gobarian

Invincible Robot Gobarian (고바리안) is another crazy Korean mashup robot that transcends style and culture.

Gobarian is of course supposed to be Govarian, a little known Mazinger-esque creation of Go Nagai. The Korean’s really must have loved this show, because there have been a TON of toys using its likeness.

The body is stolen from the Nomura ST Baldios, with several changes made to its appearance.

The head is new, and is a poorly casted and painted representation of Govarian. It looks like something a recovering addict would have made in rehab pottery class.

A lot of the trim has been stripped away from the Baldios toy, leaving only the base body intact. Fortunately, the body is still diecast metal, and the fists still shoot.

The doors on the chest open and shoot round discs.

A gun is included, original to this toy.

The packaging is very nice, with a classic styrofoam tray, illustrated box, and a fold out sheet of stickers / trading cards featuring scenes from the anime. It”s hard to tell because there is damage to the box, but the manufacturer seems to be “Chan Seung Tong Sang”.

This is just an odd piece that I’ve only seen for sale once, and haven’t seen for sale since. It is these odd little discoveries that help keep this hobby exciting and fresh.
