Kamen Rider Agito

Kamen Rider Agito is the second Heisei Rider series, and is also the 30th Anniversary Kamen Rider show. Agito is loosely tied to the previous series, Kamen Rider Kuuga and can be considered a continuation of the story. S.H. Figuarts recently made Kamen Rider Agito, and I know a lot of people who wanted to get this figure.

Much like Kuuga, Agito has the ability to change into different forms for different situations. Here we have Agito in his base form, known as Ground form.

The sculpt on this Figuart is absolutely gorgeous to look at. The gold paint that highlights Agito’s body is eye catching and helps make his black form pop even more underneath the light.

Agito features one of my favorite aspects of the S.H. Figuarts line; the eyes. The lenses are made of clear red plastic with cross-hatched details underneath to really give off a wonderful bug-like look to his design. The detail on his belt known as the Arc Ring are just as well done. A clear plastic is placed over the center to really give the belt a gem-like quality with depth.

The articulation on Agito is pretty amazing. It used a body very similar to the Saint Cloth Myth series bodies. The feel are metal which give this toy a bit more stability for those super dynamic poses. Almost everything on this toy is at least double jointed. The wrists, legs, shoulders, and head are all triple jointed as well. All of these friction joints are incredibly tight and have held up fantastically over the past few months.

I have found that the shoulder pads on Agito are a bit of a problem. These pads have very sharp finite edges compared to the main torso or Agito. Because of that the occasional careless movement caused the paint on Agito’s chest to scrap off slightly. So long as you’re careful though it shouldn’t be a problem.

Agito only comes with a few accessories and it’s definitely a spot where the toy fails at. In addition to the already equipped normal faceplate and fists, Agito comes with an alternate faceplate and two splayed hands. Considering the number of accessories previous riders such as Kabuto or Another Agito, it’s a bit weak in that aspect.

The main feature of the Agito Figuart is that you can change the faceplate for when his crests expand like in the show. Agito would take a deep breath and sway his hands calmly as the symbol of Agito appeared beneath him before he Rider Kicked his enemies.

Swapping the faces is easy enough. By just pulling on the lower lip of Agito’s face the plate comes off, revealing the cross-hatching that makes the compound eyes look so nice.

After putting the alternate face on, Agito is set to do his Rider Kick. However, it is a bit unfortunate that his alternate hands aren’t quite right for this. They’re the usual splayed type of hands, but are a bit too angry in form to make his poses look exactly screen accurate. Still, he does look quite gorgeous in this pose.

The S.H. Figuarts line is meant to use the Tamashii Stage stands that Bandai sells separately. I really wish that Bandai could have included one with these Rider Figuarts, considering one of the most quintessential poses for them to do is a Rider Kick, and you can’t even do it without going out and spending a bit more on stands.

Even though Kamen Rider Agito is lacking in accessories, he is still a gorgeous toy to look at and poses incredibly well. If you are a fan of the Agito design, this figure is a must buy.
