Sinanju

Toy Number: 079

The Sinanju is the Gundam Unicorn incarnation of the Sazabi mecha, Char’s big red beast of a Mobile Suit. Katoki’s designs for Gundam Unicorn are a refreshing take on some tired designs, and I welcomed the chance to take a closer look at the Sinanju.

Whereas the titular Unicorn Gundam is pure white minimalism until it explodes into its elaborately detailed Destiny Mode, the Sinanju wears its baroque styling on its very complicated sleeve.

The piece arrives in a typically fine Robot Spirits window box.

The Sinanju is one of the more thoroughly appointed RS toys. There are just tons of accessories in two trays.

Look at these legs. There is a lot going on there. Whew.

The jet pack is a thing of beauty. This figure has a ton of nozzles, and they all pop with perfect paint applications.

All of that armor comes at a price: articulation. While there are innumerable joints here, the posing itself is not dynamic. Fortunately, it looks pretty damned good just standing there.

The Sinanju is real marvel of an action figure. That it’s a little complicated and overly accessorized doesn’t take away from its beauty.
