Double Rock

GR-3 Doublerock (ダブルロック) is the original Japanese version of the toy known as Sticks ‘n’ Stones from the Rock Lords line. The toys come from the anime Machine Robo: Revenge of Chronos which was produced by Ashi Productions (hence the silver AP sticker on the box).

This version features an amazing package. The bright graphics and die-cut window elevate the classiness of this otherwise average toy.

Included with the set is the toy, weapon, instructions, catalog (Machine Robo), catalog (Rock Superman), and comment card. The toy itself rests in a nice styrofoam tray.

This version of the toy features a more rock-like coloring than the US version. This one actually looks like it’s elements – a combination of coal and magnetite.

The toy feels solid in your hand and it could survive many years in a toy box. The rock texture is great, and once again there’s that weird radial imprint on the side of the back.

Doublerock is armed with his double weapon.

Lets not forget, he also turns into a rock.

I much prefer the Japanese releases over the US releases, if only due to the awesome packaging. The Rock Lords are great, underrated pieces.
