Sinanju

Original MSRP: 380
Toy Number: 03

Figure number 3 in the Assault Kingdom line provides the first non-Gundam mobile suit, along with the first villain’s mobile suit as well. The Sinanju was one of the most popular figures in the first wave of Assault Kingdom. So popular in fact that I had to get mine from Nova Scotia! It’s one of the few figures that has actually been reissued albeit with a few extra new goodies and “accessories”, but that’s a subject for another day.
Sinanju 01

Unlike the standard geometric blockiness that most Gundams provide, the Sinanju is much more organic in its sculpt. Despite all of its curves and ornamental details, it manages to still look sharp for what’s essentially a $5 toy.
Sinanju 02

I especially love how the gold has been picked out finely throughout the figure.
Sinanju 03

Sinanju comes with a few accessories. In addition to its standard fists, a pair of open hands are included to make Sinanju why it exists in this world.

Also included are its beam rifle and shield. The backpack is also detachable, but honestly it just likes falling out more than anything else. It’s a little annoying.

Sinanju 08

Just like the Unicorn Gundam, Sinanju has the swing out ankle joints that allow for a wider range of ankle movement. However, it’s a little bit more limited due to the leg’s actual designs. The particularly thick and stiff skirt armor also proves to be a bit of a hindrance with any particularly wide-legged poses.
Sinanju 04

But since the Sinanju usually just floats and zooms around in space, that’s okay! It looks just fine on a stand.
Sinanju 06

The Sinanju is a very nice looking figure, but one that I personally don’t find myself fiddling with. It’s stiffer skirt armor and limited ankles get in the way. Plus the backpack pops off pretty much constantly. But it is the iconic rival suit to the Unicorn Gundam, so it’s definitely worth getting. Although, maybe this isn’t the best way to get it nowadays…
