Ark Robot 5

I happened to run into a dollar store that specialized in Japanese imports, and the “Ark Robot” caught my eye. The series is called Number Android (how very imaginative. Thanks to @maeoka on instagram, for the translation).The package is on Card back with a bubble.

The package art is ok, but the contents in package had an interesting design.  But what really caught my eye is that it was a combiner and it transformed.   You can see a preview on the front and back card of the combined form.

The Ark Robot has a limited articulation. Shoulders can swivel back, due to transformation. But they don’t stay in place very well. Arms can swing up to the side and that’s about it.

The waist can turn 360 degrees, and the back has some modest details.
Screws are well placed for the wheel hubs.

And now for the transformation. The diagram is really easy to understand.

Here’s the final Transformation into the Number 5. Probably not the best alt mode, but I love the quirkiness of it.

I’ve placed a quarter next to the toy for scale (yeap, that’s a moose on the coin).

Ark Robot 5 is my first entry in this series. It’s fun for it’s size and price point, and it has a lot more detail then I would expect for a cheap toy.

I tried to find out more about the company (Pony Co. Ltd.) who produced this series, and found It’s actually a company from china, but marketed for Japan. They seem to specialize in ride-on toy animals that are for younger children, so this series seems to be really odd for them to work on. There’s no information on their site about the Number Android series.

It’s an oddity, and I wouldn’t recommend this for everyone.  I am just a sucker for combiners.
