Gokai Spear

4,000

You can grab your own Gokai Spear from TheToySource!

Look guys! It’s a roleplay toy review! BY ME! That’s super weird, right? In honor of Power Rangers Super Megaforce, and the reveal of the Silver Ranger, we figured this would be a good time to give this review a whirl! Well let me give you the rundown on this little guy.

First off, the Gokai Spear is the signature weapon of Gokai Silver, from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. If you haven’t seen it, it’s about space pirates who fight other space people. It’s super awesome.

Look at this box, man. It’s huge.

One thing to note is that this is the Bandai of Asia release of the Gokai Spear, so the packaging is slightly different, but the toy and all of its functions (and sounds) are completely intact and ready for imagination! You know? They should totally make a Super Sentai show about imagination. I think that would be awesome.

Whatever. When you first pull the Spear from the box, it will be in Spear mode. The biggest thing I noticed when I first touched it was how the handle didn’t expand or anything.

So it is basically a giant fork.

Still, it looks and feels great.

You can also twist the pointy ends around to create Anchor mode, for when you want to put the hurt on some bad guys while in Gold Mode. It’s basically the same thing as Fork Mode.

Then you can twist the pointy ends back around and fold in the handle to creat Gun Mode.

There is a little tab on the back of the Spear that lets you release it.

Another thing I noticed about the Gokai Spear was how tiny it was for my large caucasian hands. But that’s totally fine since this is a toy made for tiny asian children.

Once you insert some batteries and turn it on, you are greeted by lovely Gokaiger sounds. I immediately nostalgia’d when I heard it. You can press the trigger in Gun Mode, and press a button on the side of Fork Mode in order to make blaster laser noises.

You can even insert the included DRAGONRANGER KEY to unleash a FINAL WAVE!

Speaking of the Dragonranger Key, it looks like this.

It does what it needs to and looks great. There are no problems here whatsoever.

And for those who would want to see this, here is a size comparison with a Bandai of America Ranger Key.

Overall, the Gokai Spear does everything it needs to, and would look great on a shelf. Of course, since it is so tiny, I wouldn’t really recommend it for people planning on using it for cosplay purposes. You’d be better off making your own prop. But if you just want something that looks cool and makes neat flashy noises, you could definitely do a lot worse! This little guy is definitely recommended!
