GARO Ryuga Ver.
Where there is light, shadows lurk and fear reigns.
Yet by the blade of Knights mankind was given hope.
Have I ever told you how much I love GARO? Well, I do. And I am stupidly excited that we are getting new GARO S.H. Figuarts.
This newest release is the main hero of GARO: Yami o Terasu Mono (The One Who Shines in the Darkness). This series showcases an alternate timeline where the Garo Armor has lost it’s golden hue, and tells the story of how a young Makai Knight named Ryuga restores the armor to its former glory.
Right off, you can see that the figure looks gorgeous. It has been meticulously recreated and looks just like the CG model.
I should mention that Yami o Terasu Mono is different from other tokusatsu series’ (and othe GARO seasons) because the suits of armor are all CGI. It’s not really my taste, but it makes sense since the Knights are much more agile and quick than in previous seasons.
Anyway, I bring that up because the articulation on the figure is excellent. GARO can achieve basically any pose from the show, and each joint has a great range of movement.
Of course, what is a Makai Knight without his Makai Blade? Ryuga comes with several sets of hands as well as his sword.
They all look great, and the sword has been sculpted faithfully from the show.
Just look at this guy.
Overall, I absolutely recommend picking up this gorgeous figure. Even collectors who aren’t fans of GARO can fall in love with this beautiful toy. But are you ready for the bad news? This figure is a Tamashii Web Exclusive. That means that he will be fairly difficult to find for a decent price, if at all. Of course, if you can justify the expense, you’ll find a wonderful gem of a toy that is well worth the price of admission.
