Tron
This is one of 4 sets made by Medicom in 2002. Each set featured a Light Cycle, a figure, and some third item. In this case, the third item is the MASTER CONTROL PROGRAM, or MCP. I believe this is the ONLY toy made of the character.
Like the other sets, all come in a simple black box, with the only difference being the color bands across them, and the art on the back and inside. Ok, so there are a lot of differences, but they are similar aesthetically.
I love the aesthetics of these sets. Their simple geometry goes will with the TRON style.
So lets talk about that MCP figure. It’s a translucent cylinder on a pedestal, and the cover of the cylinder comes off to reveal the person behind the MCP. I remember him looking like Einstein.
The included Sark figure has a warped helmet, but it’s still pretty cool. He has an Identity Disc and one of the Light Cycle control rods, although he never rides one in the movie.
The Blue Light Cycle is great, and it’s the same mold as the others in the series, just a different color. These are amazing renditions of the vehicles, and seem quite accurate, down to the narrow back wheel. That wheel makes it hard to stand upright, so Medicom has included a light wall accessory to aid in standing them upright. It looks amazing. The cover is removable on the cycle, enabling any of the TRON Kubrick figures to drive one.
The real beauty is when you have the three primary color lightcycles all together. I can’t express how much this makes me happy.
