So I know CDX isn’t exactly known for its love of designer toys, but I was given the opportunity to do a custom toy for a group show and I figured what the heck? Turns out I had a lot of fun doing it, and I actually ran out and got another couple of blank figures to work on my next pieces.

Let’s be clear here – this isn’t a toy – this is an art piece. Well, It may not be art per-se, but it’s something that I created myself, and that’s saying something.

I name it Bejeweled – after my wife’s obsession with the game of the same name.

DesignerCon 2009 will be held November 21 at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena California. More information about DesignerCon can be found here:

The Yoka show consists of a few hundred pieces, all done up in each artists unique style. Some you know, some you don’t.

Yeah, OK, CDX was down a lot over the weekend. I never could nail down what the problem was, but it appears a temp directory that our image gallery writes to had exploded to 80gb in size. In the process of troubleshooting that I went in and added more Ram, and a PHP accelerator, so you should notice a huge improvement in speed.

Next week we’re running a skeleton staff at CDX. I’ll be on Vacation, with no internet, and Dan, Adam and Jeremy will be at San Diego Comic-Con. Look for a special announcement regarding that soon.

Speaking of Jeremy, I guest-hosted on Destroy All Podcasts DX. We talked about Takeshi Kitano’s film “Getting Any”. It was a lot of fun, so please check it out.

Thats about all.. Talk to you soon..

On May 23rd, 2009, Funimation announced the official casting for its English dubbing of the first of the Rebuild of Evangelion films, “Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone

Man, 2009 is starting off with a Bang! First we get an awesome new President, one Mr. Barak Obama (who is a bit of a geek), and also we have a great new batch of toys coming up soon on cdx, including the Beagle Mospeada, TWO Macross Fronteir Valks, the new Yamato Destroid, and even the Respect for Volt in Box.

We’re also very excited for Toy Fair this year, although all indications point to a much scaled back event. Still, we get to go to NYC for a few days. If you want to get together with us, let us know! We’ll be hitting the usual haunts – chinatown, Toy Tokyo, Image Anime and more…

Anime.CollectionDX.com is doing well, but the extra workload is killing us right now. We primarily need help with news. If you are interested in being part of the CDX family, let me know. We can’t pay, but there are perks!

Thanks!

Josh

There’s a short blurb about me and Tokyo Underground in today’s Boston Globe Northwest Edition. It also mentions a signing I am doing on 4/28.

You can read the article here http://www.boston.com/news/local/articles/2008/04/20/globe_northwest_people/

I’m going to be part of a local authors event at the Chelmsford Public Library on Saturday, April 28, 2 PM, in Chelmsford MA. Details can be found here:

http://www.chelmsfordlibrary.org/programs/programs/local_authors.html

I’ll be signing what few copies of Tokyo Underground I have left. Come by and say hello!

Today is Thanksgiving (in the US anyway), and I want to take a few minutes to give thanks to all of you.

I’m back from Vacation, did you miss me?

Special thanks to Atom, Sanjeev, Nekrodave and Eva_Unit_4A for keeping the site up and running for the week.

The family and I were vacationing down on the cape, and it seems no matter where I go for vacation, I always seem to be able to sniff out the toys.

First off I met up with Tom V (host of the second chogokin summit in ‘99) to pick up some Jumbo Machinders I had bought from him (a third version Raideen and first version Dragun). It was a cool, but brief meeting. Thanks Tom!

We found ourselves lost in the woods along 6a when we found this cool book store called the Parnassus Book Service. Taking shelter from the rain, the family and I explored this great used book store were we found some treasures. No toys here, but I found a mint copy of a Pop-Up book from Disney’s Black Hole!
