Short version. I am a fan of Dan Trachtenberg from his web show The Totally Rad Show. He spent a year and a half of his life making the short film below. It’s a very strong, moody sci-fi piece even even if you have never played the game it is based on, Portal. Someone needs to get Dan on directing a feature film of something, anything A.S.A.P. Pretty please…

Some of you probably saw the blurry pictures of the poster and toys yesterday, but now there’s an officially released jpg of the Thundercats from their brand new show, and it looks AWESOME!!!! Originally I was worried it would tank like the He-Man remake, but this looks a million times better, and on the marketing side Bandai doesn’t make the strange counter-intuitive descisions Mattel does.
A couple of the people involved with this are from the DC direct to DVD animated movies (of which I highly reccomend
Green Lantern:First Flight and Superman/Batman:Apocalypse) which have been great lately, and Batman The Brave and the Bold, which I know a lot of people initially didn’t like do to the oldschool design, but IMO has had some quality stories and has been a great adaptation of the comic.
Rumor has it SNARF WILL NOT TALK so cross your fingers and hopefully it’s true. I think we can all agree it would be the best remake. ever. if that turns out to be correct!
Well,I had a chance to watch the Black Friday premieres of Transformers Prime,G.I. Joe Renegades, and Young Justice.
Transformers:
This was pretty lackluster. Beast wars was like 15 years ago,and the CG in this doesn’t look any better. I wasn’t expecting Pixar-level animation, but this looks like a budget title for Playstation One. I really don’t understand why they didn’t just make it regular 2D animation if this is the best they could do CG-wise. It ends up failing in it’s main purpose (a toy commercial) because kids will just want the more detailed and cooler (to kids at least) movie styled toys, and adult collectors will still prefer Classics and WFC figures. Of course,It’s a moot point since the toys for this aren’t even coming out for like a year.
All the character’s voices are horrible impersinations of the G1 voices, except Optimus, who I think is the real Peter Cullen, and Cliffjumper, who’s the Rock (former WWE wrestler).
