  • Yeah I remember that little annoying guy now that I look at the little drawing of him in the pic.

  • So, little Kremzeek is like walkin', talkin' energon? (Hee hee hee...)

  • Looks good! Only wish they tried to match the face/head better. Anyway, this is a buy for me.
P.S. Yellow guy is a character from the G1 show "Kremzeek". He is electrical in nature and can absorb energy.

  • My parents NEVER got me that one thing that everyone else really wanted AT THE TIME. Nintendo, Atari, Transformers, Legos, movies just released to VHS- I missed out on a crap-load of stuff in the late '80s. About the most 'popular' thing I ever got was a new bike.
I managed to wiggle [maybe] two Deluxe megazords out of them when I was in my 'tweens, but those were under required conditions.

    I feel sorry for myself...

  • I had the G1 Megatron, in fact he was the very first Transformer I ever owned. Toys R Us had just gotten the very first wave in and Megatron and the min-cars were all they had(on an isle end-cap). GoBots had been out for a few months already so I had a few of those but Transformers were brand new and I was waiting(very impatiently I might add) for them to come out. I was calling Toys R Us on an almost daily basis to see when they came in.(the employees were probably sick of hearing from me no doubt). This was early 1984 if I remember correctly? I was in fourth grade. Luckily my Mother did not mind paying the "high" $19.99 price tag as in my haste to find out if the Transformers were indeed in stock I didn't bother to check the price! lol Incidentally, my Mother bought my nephew a yellow cliffjumper while we were there as well. My Megatron had a lot more weapons and stuff than the masterpiece seems to have but its understandable. I was the envy of my fourth grade class as the only other person that owned a real Transformer at that time was a kid with Thundercracker. Not sure who the flame-like ghost is though, he sure didn't come with my set. I'll be buying the Masterpiece most likely.

  • Wow- if I hadn't known beforehand that MP-05 was mostly plastic, I would have though it was a real gun with real metal! That paint app. is so real! No wonder it'll be so difficult to get pass US toy import laws...
I never cared for the G1 Megatron toy or the pretty purple of Galvatron, but this is certainly changing my mind. Legs are a little thin from the front, but I think I could overlook that.
Having never seen G1, who's the little flame-like ghost there?

  • Like the MagiPhone from 2005's "Mahou Sentai MagiRanger", this thing has a fully interactive keypad with code numbers that cause different things to happen. The Scan Mode blacklight LED is a really cool and fun idea. I also like the techy, 'realistic' look of the Accellular in general. I also like the accessory arm pouch Accellular Holder (sold separately). (I just wish the straps were longer so that I could wrap it around my arm!) It even talks in the same voice heard in the series! (Super Sentai alumni voice actor Shinichiro Ohta can't speak clear English to save his life!)
Oodly, in the series and on the toys, the Accellular [and the Gougou Changer] can't access the later 14-18 Gougou Vehicles which make up the DX Chouzetsu Gougou Gattai DaiVoyager.

A trick you can do when using the hasshin command:
--Go! button > Turbine Wheel- launch without pressing a number!

Errors you get when using the gattai command:
--Gattai button > Turbine- error sound!
    --Gattai > 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 > Turbine- error sound! You can't use Gougou Dozer and/or Gougou Marine Diver on DaiTanken ("Bouken Formation Two!")
--Gattai > 4 5 _ _ 8 9 0 > Turbine- error sound! You can't use Gougou Dozer and/or Gougou Marine Diver in place of Gougou Drill and Gougou Shovel on DaiTanken.
--Gattai > 1 2 3 _ _ 6 > Turbine- error sound! To use DaiBouken+6-10 at the same time, you must use all of 1-5 first.
    --Gattai > 1 2 _ 4 5 6 7 8 9 > Turbine- error sound! You can't activate Super DaiBouken ("Super Formation!") without Gougou Gyro (3)
--Gattai > 1 2 _ _ _ 6 7 8 9 0 > Turbine- error sound! You cannot skip Gougou Gyro, Gougou Dozer, & Gougou Marine Diver when making Ultimate DaiBouken ("Ultimate Formation!")

Tricks you can do with the gattai command:
--Gattai > 6 7 8 > Turbine- it can't be done on the DX toys or in the show, but the Accellular accepts any three numbers after 5 put together.
--Gattai > 6 7 8 9 > Turbine- activate Super DaiBouken without using 1-5 keys at the same time!

  • Getter 2

Nice work! The only thing I would like to add is that it can be very difficult to get this toy with no paint loss on the head, and one without it can be significantly more expensive.

And maybe the only reason I tend to think of Getter 1 as being more common, is because I haven't got Getter 2 yet. :)

  • At an average of $150 dollars each, I'll stick with the Revoltech version.

  • Hey thanks for the kind words Rob! I certainly hope the book (and my art) gets the TF fandom seal of approval. :-P

Also, thanks Josh for putting a *spotlight* on this (cheeeeesy pun alert!) hehe.

But seriously, thanks a lot guys. ^_^

  • I definitely want to see more of this. 7" is a bit small and reminds me of a Soul of Chogokin, but this doesn't look like a display-only set; it looks like it can take a bit of a beating at the kid level!
I just hope it doesn't run for something like +$100 or some ridiculous price off-the-shelf... If it is, they should make a real toy out of the Patlabors and some of the enemy labors. Dedicated models and poesable figures go only so far sometimes.
[I'm still waiting for the Evangelion Units- and some of the Angels- to be turned into affordable, kid-resistant 12" toys with spring-loaded Entry Plug and removable pauldrons (hint-hint, wink-wink, nudge-nudge...)]

  • I used to love seeing those commercials when I was growing up. If I remember right, they played on Channel 56. I always tried to get my folks to bring me, but i never had any luck.

I remember finding one of the Takara Dougram sets at the Child World out in North Dartmouth when I was a kid. At te time it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. That and Robotech were my two big robot/mecha loves as a kid (although I also had a soft spot for Gaiking).

It's interesting that most fo the folks who posted so far were never able to visit the store. Does anyone know anybody who did? I was always curious if it would have lived up to my expectations :)

  • Why was force 5/Starblazers such a MA. thing? I dont remember it over in the Tri-Sate area. In fact I don't even think the shows were on the TV.

  • Never got to go either. Funny thing is, I don't recall asking to go too often (though I must have a few times), but I used to always tell my folks every Xmas about the "Argo" they had at Mr. Big that I wanted. Never did get it, or anything else from the store. Who knows, maybe if I had, I would be a chogokin collector instead of Jumbos today.

    Curse you, mom and dad!

  • Living way out in Gardner in central MA, I never got there either. It makes me sad to this day, tho, admittedly, not getting the USS Flagg at Rich's Department Store or the Scott Bernard Cyclone at Child World depresses me more. Sort of. I mean, I'm pretty sure I'd never have kept either, but, hey, it'd have made me happier then.

Now I'm just stuck looking for a Cyclone I can afford and a house big enough to hold a USS Flagg before I go and buy one. =)

  • So many years ago, so many fond memories. I share your pain Josh. My parents to did not bring me to Mr.Big's Toyland when I was small as well. Ever so often though, dad's work would bring him out to the Waltham area near the store and he would sometimes bring home a unique item. Skylar from Gaiking, or a fighter jet from Danguard Ace, or some other bizarre item what was just plain whole-some good! Alas, I was a fool and did not treated my toys w/ care. Most of them lost (and now re-bought since getting older and I can now sorta afford them).

I remember the TV ad like it was yesterday and think I still could quote it line for line as well.

    Good times... Thanks dad.

  • *sigh* ...your parents never took you there, either, huh?

Hey, Josh, what's that website you can order the time machine from? Y'know, the one Uncle Rico got?

  • Although they are in the same scale, they are totally different toys. The Toynami is much better quality.

  • Are these the same as the older Banpresto valkyries that were released some years ago? I believe they were the same scale and also made from ABS, the Toynami version here looks an awful lot like them even down to the packaging.

  • Wow Josh. Thank you. Personally and Professionally had it not been for you, I'd probably be just another Gundam nerd. Now I'm a published Gundam Nerd with a website behind him. I want to say that my knowledge base is only thanks to those that came before me and what I've learned first hand.

While I've been behind on getting you some new material, I just want to say that I promise some great things in 2007. Building a Better model one year at a time!

  • I'd like to send thanks to all the contributors for the great articles and fantastic photography that's been posted over the past year. I also want to extend my thanks to Josh for all his help in editing and posting the few reviews i managed to pound out this year (hopefully I'll manage to do a few more for '07), you've managed to make a fantastic site that will help preserve the history and trends of the hobby, not only for the die hard collectors, but also for those who are just now getting into the hobby. CDX has become a great tool to educate all of us not only about the present and future of this hobby, but also about it's history and origins.
