I keep thinking the Designer / Art toy bubble is going to burst any day now, but Strangeco keeps proving me wrong. Each year they bring out a new assortment of goodies that really blow me away. You can see the trend is taking these designs away from the asian influences and bringing a quirkier urban feel to the market.
Let's take a look at some of my favorite designs at the show:
Ron English's Cowgirl '“ There were two versions of this on display. The painted version is some kind of exclusive, while the brown version was the regular release.
Mainframe by Dean Bradley '“ These were just prototypes, but they looked great. They are fully poseable with bendy arms, and will come in different colors.
Minitreehouse from Nathan Jurevicius - Each toy comes with accessories to form two different modes. These looked incredible in person. My favorite was the dark blue three legged creature.
Mr. Bumper from Jim Woodring - Pretty much any Jim Woodring vinyl is awesome. This one features a removable top. The final finish won't be as glossy, but still'¦
Turtlecamper by Jeremy Fish - This one comes in different colors '“ there was a gold version on display as well.
