What is your favorite Godzilla? I think it all depends on when your first exposure to Godzilla was. For me, I was a kid in the 70s watching Creature Double Feature on channel 56 in Boston. Ah to be that age again...

The NECA Godzilla 1962 comes from King Kong vs Godzilla, and I definitely saw that one on Creature Double Feature. This one feels like the Godzilla I know, and although there were slight suit alterations in the Showa era, this one pretty much feels like the one I knew as a kid.

Like all the NECA Godzilla releases, this comes in a beautiful box styled like the movie poster. Even if you never opened it, it would look great on your shelf, but that would be missing out on a great toy.

The toy is fantastic, and a much cheaper than the S.H. Monsterarts alternative. Not only is it half the price, but you can get this at TARGET.

Out of the box, you've got to attach Godzilla's tail. The connection here is super tight, so heat the socket up with a hair dryer or hot water - trust me, you will thank me for this.

Godzilla is hefty and solid feeling, and he stands about 5 inches tall, and 11 inches long. He looks fantastic.

The head is really well done. The eyes are tightly painted and well-positioned to look good from several angles. This has been a sticking point with Godzilla figures in the past - it's tough to get the eyes right at this scale. The teeth and mouth are done well, with an articulated jaw.

He's as poseable as a Godzilla can be with 22 points of articulation. None of it looks forced and works well with the organic skin. I will also add that the texture of the figure feels wonderful. I really enjoy the tactile experience with toys, and this one is a joy to hold.

The tail has a great range of motion. While not every section is segmented, it has enough to bend convincingly.

The torso has a nice bend, but I would have liked a little more range here.

The range of motion in the arms is the real selling point here. The arms can reach out wide (for Godzilla) and there are even hinges at his knuckles.

This Godzilla comes from a period where Godzilla could actually be silly, and I love that I can do poses like this with him.
