The DX Soldozer is the last toy I am reviewing from Solbrain, and the last toy review of the year.

This bad boy is awesome, standing 11 inches tall, transforming, articulated and battery operated - sort of.

The box is huge and awesome. There are some great product shots all around, but the highlight for me is the early CGI rendering of Soldozer on the back.

Inside, Soldozer rests in a nice styro tray. This particular specimen I got used, so the stickers were already applied.

Cast in a wonderful construction orange (as opposed to the yellow if his smaller counterpart), Soldozer is everything great about 90s pre-tamashii Bandai toys. Bandai didn't have a collector's division at the time, so most of their output (aside from Plamo) were actual toys, meant to be played with.

In robot mode, Soldozer features movable shoulder cannons, rotating head, rotating shoulders, swivel biceps, bendable arms and a swivel waist.

The weapon on the arm is removable, and has a geared mechanism that allows the blades to move at the same time.

The back has a kickstand to keep the figure upright. Above that you can see the battery compartment which requires 2 "C" batteries.

In regards to the battery operated action? It doesn't work. It's supposed to enable Soldozer to walk back and forth in robot mode (using tabs underneath), and roll in tank mode, but a gear must have stripped inside. The motor runs, but nothing moves. Ah well.

Conversion into tank mode is easy. Flip the spoons out, rotate the torso, push the hands in, unfold the chest section and reconnect. Just add the drill hand attachments and you are ready to go!

For weaponry, there's a grey handle that allows you to attach the drills in one of two formations. It fits snugly over the hand.

Soldozer also comes with a couple of booklets in addition to the instructions and sticker sheet. One booklet is an overview of the series and characters, the other is about the toys from the line. This booklet is where I was able to get all the original prices from.
