As Americans, we enjoy many unique holidays that are not celebrated around the world. Memorial Day, Labor Day, Patriots Day and even things like Columbus Day and George Washington's Birthday. But the coolest celebration is the week long extravaganza known as Shark Week.
Shark Week started on the Discovery Channel in 1987, and it's a week long celebration of all things Shark-Related.
CollectionDX is getting into the game by showcasing some of the cooler Shark Related toys on the site.
Battle Shark
The Battle Shark is the flying fortress of the first Sentai giant robot - Battle Fever Robo! While it doesn't much look like a shark, it's sort of shark-shaped.
Battle Shark splits open and stores the giant robot inside. Sort of like if you cut open a shark's belly and find license plates and human legs. Sort of.
Sharkon
Sharkon comes from the 2001 Web Diver line made by Takara. While most of the line was easly forgotten, Sharkon remains a very cool toy. It's a shark robot that turns into a hovercraft. Why? BECAUSE HE IS A SHARK AND HE CAN.
Blue Shark Wild Zord
From Power Rangers Wild Force comes the Blue Shark, the right arm of the Wild Force Megazord. When you are a robot made of animals, what animal are you going to choose for your fighting arm? Damn right you are going to choose a shark. The blue shark is so badass that it rips its own tail off and beats you with it.
Beni Shark
I dont do drugs, but if I did, I would want to take whatever the designers of the Beni-Shark did. It comes from the insane 1976 Tokusatus show Chojin Bibyun. How is this a shark? Well, it's vaguely shark-shaped, it has fins, and... oh I give up. It's called Beni Shark.
Gosei Shark
As part of Gosei Great, this is another Shark-as-the-right-arm thing. Like I said, it's your go-to animal attachment. In this case the Shark Head (Hedda) is used in many different configurations, but as a stand alone it attaches to the body and makes Gosei Shark. So not only can you have a shark for an arm, you can take the head off and stick it on your chest!
War Shark
Althought it's called War Shark, I think this resembles the Celiocanth more than anything. Still, it's an agressive, tricked out mecha fish robot, so why not call it a shark. This Zoid also features wind-up action so your War Shark can technically walk on land. A robotic land-walking mecha fish - Are you gonna tell him he's not a shark?
Captain Shark
We saved the best for last. Not only is he a Shark Space Battleship, but he is also a Shark Pirate Robot. You can't get any sharkier than this my friends. (Is "Sharkier" even a word?)
Captain Shark comes from the 1997 Brave series "Brave of Gold Goldran". It's totally insane but the little touches really make this thing shine.
lets count how many ways Captain Shark rules:
1. He's got an Eyepatch.
2. He stores his pirate sword in his shark tail.
3. He has a giant shark on his chest, with an opening mouth.
4. On one hand he has a Giant Space Harpoon. On the other - a HOOK.
5. He transforms into a giant shark spaceship!
It's plain to see that Captain Shark rules all shark robots. This list only contains robots we've covered on CollectionDX, but of course there are other Shark Robots. What are we missing?
