W-Gundam Zero Custom
This snap together kit is part of Bandai Americas “Superior Defender” or SD toy line. They have taken the Gundam’s you know and love and shrunk them down to miniature size.
In Japan, the term SD means “Super Deformed”, and they have been making SD versions of characters for years. This kit is a re-release of the Japanese SD kit Gundam SD-203.
The kit comes on an assortment of full color sprues. The parts are molded in color but will require a little paint to make it look just like the photo on the box. I added panel lines to this one, otherwise, the colors are as it would look out of the box. Use a hobby knife to cut the parts cleanly off of the sprue.
Assembly is pretty straight-forward, it took me about an hour to put together. If you choose not to do panel lines, it will be maybe half that time. It is a “Level 1” kit, so it is perfect for beginners. An 8 year old should have no problem putting this kit together.
The fun does not stop once W-Gundam Zero Custom is completed. He is fully poseable, and comes with a beam saber, and 2 large rifles that combine into one. His wings can fold in front for defense mode, and his shoulders pivot forward to allow him to grab the double rifle with both hands, recreating the famous scene from Endless Waltz.
