Getting in to see George from Toynami is a bit like getting to see the great OZ; not everyone is granted the audience. As usual, he was incredibly gracious with CDX and chatted with us for a bit in their private showroom this year.
First up! Shogun Warriors!
Beast King Go Lion and Dairugger XV were out in finished form this year. They looked good, really good. These are just hitting retailers now so keep your eyes peeled and grab them while you can. I'm under the impression the run is small on these.
There is more on the horizon for Shogun Warriors but nothing that Toynami was ready to announce at this time. So fear not, more is coming (and not just Jumbo sized toys) and we will tell you more about it when we can!
While Harmony Gold is not giving out any new licenses for the Robotech franchise (in anticipation of the live-action film), Toynami will continue to make new product as they have been at it for close to 11 years now. George explained they are grandfathered in with his existing agreement and that he will remain committed to the Robotech brand and the fans that have supported the lines over the years.
More 1/100 scale Veritechs are coming...
Included in the lineup is the VF-1D .
From the film version of Macross: Do You Remember Love? the Elintseeker and Super Ostrich.
Also in the 1/100 scale is a new entry in the Robotech Vinyl Collection, the Officer Battlepod! This looked great and I can't wait to get my hands on one.
We discussed the chance of seeing a Queadluun-Rau in the vinyl line and they are thinking about it.
Futurama gets a very strong offering this year.
I was particularly impressed with the talking Bender figure.
This bad boy may see a release as a build-a-figure.
Urban Vinyl gets some love from Toynami
Canman
There was more to see in the Toynami booth for Naruto, Bleach and various plush lines that we will post over at ACDX soon.
