A shy, blundering, heartfelt Cure, Cure Blossom is the premier and magenta member of the HeartCatch Precure troupe. Arguably -- from the views of the characters themselves -- she is the weakest Precure, though this is true only in physical might; her heart and love for others outshines any other, and she will fight for those she loves.
With this, Megahouse gives us the Excellent Model Cure Blossom statuette from the Toei Magical Girl show entitled HeartCatch: Precure! Megahouse really encapsulated a lot of the character into this statuette; it's pretty(cure) spectacular.
The box has an open face to show off Blossom and Chypre -- her Fairy companion -- held inside.
On the side another window is present with more pictures splashed upon it.
And the back includes all your warnings and glorified pictures of Blossom. The packaging is nice, as it does its job: holding the figure. It's not as pink as I would have assumed it would be, but that's not a negative thing.
Cure Blossom's statuette is stunning; The figure just exudes the utmost quality. The sculpt is pretty close with the animation model with only a few errors from translating from 2D to 3D. It's smooth, soft, perfectly in proportion with the character, and loaded with detail. It's twisty and, quite frankly, just nice to look at.
The detail and artistic features in this figure, I must stress, are fantastic. The bows and her head and chest look as if they are actually tied. There are raised detail on her boots as well as the laces on the back of her suit; they are not just painted on. Her Heart Perfume is safely tucked away on her belt. She even has beveled and painted fingernails!
A cool artistic part of her figure to point out is her hair. Being a magical girl, she has lots of it. On this figure, it goes from opaque to translucent from top to bottom. A very cool choice, as it gives a lot to the overall figure.
The paint apps are expertly applied without mess, smudge, or overspray. The red -- a crimson, really -- is very deep and contrasts well with the soft pastel of the pink and pinkish-white of the rest of her suit. The paint in blended well with an almost "glow" added to the figure; nothing is just one color, and it really makes her look, well... magical.
She's a statue.
There is none.
Cure Blossom stands 7.5 inches tall from the bottom of the base to tippy top of her hair, 6.5 without the stand.
Blossom is made from solid PVC and garners quite a nice heft from it; she's got a nice weight that makes her feel quality and well made.
Cure Blossom comes with three things:
- Her Stand
- Chypre (her companion Fairy)
- Chypre's stand
The stand is her Precure Seed, the Heart Seed she places into the Heart Perfume to transform from Tsubomi -- her normal life alter-ego -- to Cure Blossom.
Chypre is two inches tall and has been given the same amount of detail and paint as Blossom herself. She is solid PVC and has a great sculpt with minute and bold detail and sports a nice weight for her size.
Her paint is soft and accurate and also includes a few "metallic" spots, such as the star on her head. There is what might look like green overspray on the white of Chypre's body, but that's intentional shading.
None... unless you count having awesome paint apps and looking perfectly adorable a gimmick.
Cure Blossom is my favorite Precure from HeartCatch, and this statuette is the apotheosis of why: it's pretty; it's nicely designed; and it's pink!
But more to the point, this figure is great. With the fantastic sculpt and the extravagant attention to detail and paint, Blossom really stands out as a great statuette. If you like HeartCatch: Precure! or Cure Blossom, or are just entranced by this figure and design, then I highly suggest that you pick it up.
Cure Marine -- the second main Cure in HeartCatch -- also has a statuette from the same line. She and Blossom make a perfect pair together. Read Dkun's review on Marine here at Otaku.CollectionDx!
