Thanksgiving Feast

Lego has always been great to its fans, from special events, to promotional figures, exclusive sets and countless other things. One of my favorite things they do is seasonal sets sold exclusively at the Lego store. Typically two sets are released per season, with the fall ones be “Trick or Treat” and “Thanksgiving Feast.” These sets typically are small vignettes portraying a holiday or scene evocative of the season.

40123 Thanksgiving Feast is pretty self-explanatory name and costs 9.99, the same price as all the other seasonal sets. Coming in at 158 pieces, it is an incredibly good deal and could easily be considered a 15 dollar set.

The set comes in 3 bags along with two base plates and instructions. It’s a quick little build, probably taking 10-15 minutes but still enjoyable with creative use of parts.

Two minifigures are included, an older husband and wife pair. Maybe they are having Thanksgiving alone, maybe they are waiting for their children and grandchildren to arrive, it can be whatever you want as the vignette only tells so much of what is happening.

The smallest part of the set is a little cart carrying the turkey and an apple in a bowl. Underneath is also a pie for dessert.

The vignette itself is of the dining room, with the back showing the outer wall of the house featuring some autumn leaves and gardening tools. There is a lot of detail in such a small set, with an opening dining cabinet, spice rack, potted plants and dining table with table cloth.

Thanksgiving Feast is a great little set and I would highly recommend any Lego fans go out and buy it. At 9.99, it’s an absolute bargain and well worth it just for the parts alone. I really love the seasonal sets because they feel like something Lego made out of appreciation of their fans. There is no reason for Lego to price these sets so low, and they could easily market these as some limited edition holiday set for 15-20 dollars or make it a promotional item requiring a 75 dollar purchase; instead they made these available in all Lego stores and online without restrictions. I don’t buy as many Legos as I used too, but its gestures like this that have kept me buying Legos for the last 25 years and stay a fan for life. There aren’t many toy companies that truly appreciate their fans as Lego, and they rightfully deserve to be the number one toy company in the world.
