Albegas Triple Denjin Set
The Albegas Triple Denjin Set is a set of three carded Sofubi (Soft Vinyl) toys. It’s a pretty rare set, as i’ve never seen another for sale. With this example, the glue holding the clamshell on has separated, so I was able to remove the figures without the guilt of having destroyed a carded specimen.
The card is gorgeous. Note the Popy logo on the bottom left, and the Bandai logo on the bottom right. Popy used to be a sub-brand of Bandai, and they were absorbed back into the main brand in 1983. For a period of time, both logos were used.
The red text says “Triple Denjin Set”.
The back actually has printed graphics, something I don’t see a lot of with carded cheap toys.
Each sofubi stands around 5″ tall and is made out of four separate pieces of vinyl: Upper half, lower half, right arm, left arm. The only points of articulation are at the shoulders.
They all have a similar feel, which is great. They are nicely detailed, with the right paint applications. My only complaint is that they filled in the area between their upper legs with vinyl. I’m not sure if the area was too small for the machines to handle, or if it was a stability issue. If anything, it keeps the legs from bowing inward, a common issue with Sofubi.
I also like that each robot’s symbol is molded onto the back. I don’t know of any other iteration of these characters that has that.
The last thing included in the set is a little plastic badge. This badge is plastic with a tab on the back that allows you to slide it over a pocket or something.
It’s a fun and rare Albegas piece. Enjoy!
