AT-AT

The AT-AT (All Terrain Armored Transport) is one of the more iconic vehicles in the Star Wars universe. First appearing in The Empire Strikes Back, it has made appearances in many other times in the franchise, most recently as Rey’s home in The Force Awakens.

As part of the Star Wars Tomica Series, the AT-AT has been shrunk down to pocket size.

As mentioned before, I love the Tomica Star Wars Boxes. Hell, I love all the Tomica Boxes. If I was in Japan and had easy access to Tomica products, I would be in big trouble. I’m already planning on lining these up on the shelves.

Inside, the AT-AT is fully assembled, and rests in a clear plastic tray.

The toy is only 2 inches tall, but features a diecast body and fully poseable legs.

The diecast body really adds a nice weight, and the surface has all kinds of raised detail that feel great in your hand. It’s a wonderful tactile experience.

One glaring thing is the large silver discs at the top joints of the legs. They are basically rivets that hold the legs in, but they are pretty ugly.

The legs have swivel joints in both the hips and knees. In keeping with the Tomica tradition, each foot has a clear wheel on the bottom.

Each leg has a small ridge that it comes up against to keep it in place, but can easily be pushed past to get a wider variety of poses.

Underneath is the standard stand hole, even though the AT-AT does not need one at all.

This guy ended up staying on my desk for a long while, and he was my go-to toy to pick up when I was on a call or a meeting. He just feels great in your hand, and is really fun to mess around with.
