Blaster (Green)
Blaster is another one of those Gobots that had two color schemes, which was a bit confusing as a kid. Why is that kid’s Blaster yellow and mine green?
First of all, Blaster began his life as Missile Tank Robo with the number MR-23. This was the orange version, and in Japan he came with some stickers. That orange version became the first Gobot version of Blaster in 1983, minus the stickers. It was later re-released in 1985 with this Gobot-only color scheme.
In vehicle mode, Blaster is some kind of missile launching tank. A chrome missile is attached to each arm, and can be removed. The arms can be tilted up to a launching position. While the treads do not work, there are little wheels on the bottom.
Underneath, it still has the Japanese text and manufacturers mark of the original, despite never being released in Japan.
Transformation is fine, but there are a lot of fragile points. The feet break off often due to the flimsy connection with the legs. Also, it’s difficult to get him to stand up straight because the feet don’t quite form a right angle when standing.
Check out that shit-eating grin Blaster has.
The ball joints on the shoulders are generally weak, no matter what version you have.
Fun little guy if you can pick him up.
