Blockhead

Toy Number: 09
Scale: 1/144

I’ve talked before about my love of the 1/144 Dougram Collection Series. I’m only a few away from having the complete set (need those damn Bromry trailers!). The tight little blocks of metal, they make my heart sing.

I bring you another in the collection, the Blockhead T-10C (Abitate) X-Nebula.

The name can be a bit confusing, so let me break it down for you:

  • Blockhead is the nickname of the model
  • T-10C is the model number
  • Abitate is the Manufacturer
  • X-Nebula refers to the tan colored version. I’ve heard that this version has a different operating system, dubbed “X-Nebula”, hence its designation.

There are two 1/144 Blockheads, the Red one (B) and the Tan one (C). I think the Tan one is rarer, but not by much. They also made a 1/72 Blockhead, which is another highly prized toy.

The Blockhead feels like the ultimate combat armor. It is much larger than the other combat armors. It makes the Dougram seem so small and skinny.  Blockhead has a certain bulk that gives it an imposing stature, despite its 3 inches in height.

The box is pure love. Dougram boxes are some of the finest Japanese toy boxes ever produced. The box art is brilliant, the colors amazing.

Inside, the toy is tightly packed in a Styrofoam tray. A small baggie contains a catalog, instructions and stickers, but I have left the stickers off of this one. He looks fine without them.

Accessories include two little 1/144 scale soldiers, a gun, ammo clip, connector and a shoulder mounted missile launcher.

The gun can be attached to the back of the figure, or held in hand. A special clip is used when attached to the back.

A fun, menacing metal monster of a robot. Simple and pure, exactly what I love about this era of toys.
