Body Kun (Black Ver.)

S.H. Figuarts has always intrigued and greatly impressed me with its stunning detail and articulation, so when CollectionDX’s own Joshb graciously sent me one for a review how could I say no? I definitely couldn’t afford getting one on my own anyway, but I’m too big a Kamen Rider fan to keep that up for long, especially since now I know first hand how special even a simple entry like this really is.

Body Kun arrives courtesy of Bluefin Distribution and is available at Amazon.com

Body Kun (Black Ver.) is rendered completely in slick matte black, highlighting the surface detail in a breathtaking shadow play as light reflects off of it. The sculpt itself is beautiful in its simplicity but is certainly not under detailed, even the eyeless face still bears some expression. Maybe I’m just making something out of nothing here but, for my first figuart, color me very impressed.

Accessories are relegated just to hands, as this is not the dx version of the figure.

First are some small closed default fists. Then there are some relaxed hands you can use for a Henshin, two types of splayed hands, and some holding hands despite the fact that no accessories are actually included for use with them. Thankfully, they are shaped so accessories from many other figures can fit in them!

For instance; Body Kun can shoot from the hip like (someone) should:

Articulation might be the best part as, any pose you could ever imagine within reason, can be done all the while looking good in the process. That combined with the many Hand options and compatibility with other accessories makes the possibilities limitless.

Finally, the size. This being my first S.H. Figuarts, I’ve observed the size to be my usual measurement of “around an HG or a deluxe transformer”, nevertheless here is Body Kun stacked up against everything I had within arms reach!

For a closing statement, let me just say I’m very grateful for this Black Body Kun, and that gratitude is only heightened by how incredible a figure this is; and maybe, if I can afford it, the first of many S.H. Figuarts!
