Clawripper

Clawripper is one of the basic dragons from Mega Bloks Dragons Universe line. They’re a bit different from the previous dragons we have reviewed, so lets take a look.

Showing how much they rock at packaging, Mega has made this a standout on the aisle with an exposed transparent plastic “egg” that juts out from the box. Everything you need is in this egg, and you can keep the egg for storing the parts. It’s a great idea. I love it when the packaging becomes part of the play value and keeps material out of landfills.

Inside the egg are some plastic baggies with all the parts required to build Clawripper.

Promotional shots show the dragon as being more brown, but this has more of a caramel/orange coloring to it. The texture is smooth as opposed to the scaly dragons previously released.

Assembly is easy and good for even the young kids. Things just click into place.

On the chest is a transparent marble that looks as if it should illuminate but it does not. Prior year’s dragons had light up gimmicks, but my guess is this was abandoned due to cost.

On the back of the dragon, between the large flexible wings, sits a dual missile launcher with cool transparent piping. The mix of organic and mechanical works well here.

These are great companion pieces to the fighter ships of the Dragons Universe line. More for the kids than the collectors, but if you are a collector who has to buy for kids you can’t go wrong with these.
