Cruiser Robot
Cruiser Robot (変身クルーザーロボ Transform Cruiser Robot) is another plastic wind up from Masudaya. In this case there was an actual line, called “Sea Defender”. Only three toys were released in this line, all with distinct modes.
These hefty plastic toys have a simple transformation that makes them ideal for little kids. Tie in the wind up propellor action and this is a no-brainer for the little one.
The toys came with a unique style of packaging. Only a folded piece of cardboard wraps around the legs in this version. There is also a version that comes boxed.
The wind up knob on the back is large and easy to turn, great for the kids.
In robot mode he’s unremarkable and a little awkward. The head reminds me of Gipsy Danger from Pacific Rim.
The toy transforms in three steps, and to be honest I’m not quite sure what kind of boat this is supposed to be.
I’m guessing maybe a futuristic military hovercraft.
In ship mode, the propellor is exposed at the rear.
Cruiser Robot is a fun toy, but it’s simple design and pre-school demographic has kept if off of collectors radar for years.
