DX Change Robo comes form the 9th Super Sentai series “Dengeki Sentai Changeman”, which aired from 1985-1986. It’s a DX Chogokin (GC-27) and this was when sentai bots were still full of metal. While I bought this at auction in New Hampshire, It still has a price tag of 99.99 on it from Outer Limits of Clifton New Jersey. But on the back there is a faint pencil mark showing an earlier sales price showing $45. This has been through a few hands.

The box is nice, and has the typical handle on the side for DX box sets. No graphics on the back.

The outer box is a bit rough, but inside, that inner cover is pristine. Each part is clearly visible through the windows.

Included is a color instruction book, a black and white instruction sheet with instructions for use with the DX Shuttlebase, a sticker sheet and a baggie of missiles.

Lets take a look at the individual vehicles.

Jetchanger 1

This is obviously a jet-type vehicle, with metal landing gear. It does not really have any action features, but the wings are all movable and you can slide the clear cockpit back to reveal Change Robo’s face. Note that somewhere along the line someone painted the jet nozzles in the back.

Helichanger 2

According to what I have read, this is the first helicopter-type Super Sentai vehicle. It’s a fun vehicle with a four-bladed prop, with two rear stabilizers, metal rolling wheels, and faux missiles that plug into the open hands. The entire front section is solid diecast metal. Note that the plastic on the white arm sections is especially fragile, one of the tabs broke off when transforming it.

Landchanger 3

This is your standard tank-style vehicle. The front part is solid metal, and each tank section has a metal wheel under it for rolling. The rear has two hidden launchers mounted on articulated arms. One side has a chrome launcher that houses two yellow missiles, the other has a launching chrome drill missile.

Combination is pretty simple. Separate the halves of Landchanger and bend at the ankle. Fold the wings in. Take Jetchanger and fold in all the wings, and connect to the legs. Unfold the arms of Helichanger, fold in the front grill and bend the whole thing in half to reveal a cavity in the middle. Slide this down over Jetchanger and it reveals the face of Change Robo. Fold the propeller blades together and fold up the stabilizers of Helichanger on the back.

Yellow pegs are all over the figure. The ones on the hands launch the fists, but the rest are for releasing the parts during transformation back to individual vehicles.

DX Change Robo

Change Robo has two chrome weapons. The Blitzkrieg Sword and Change Shield can be used individually, or combined into one unit.

And now, a mystery – Included in the missile baggie were these additional red missiles, but they do not appear to go with this figure. Perhaps with the Shuttlebase?
