DX Sky Braver
The DX Sky Braver is the largest set to come out of the Jobraver line. The thing is massive, and is compatible with the other Jobraver sets.
The box is large, colorful and sturdy. Inside, the parts are in a cardboard tray in baggies that are not resealable. This is very much a kids toy!
Here’s the translated box back (somewhat).
Here is the inner cardboard tray, along with the instructions and sticker sheet. There are a LOT of stickers to apply.
Theres’ a section of the sticker sheet that is just for the kids!
The toy needs asembly out of the box, but it’s very simple. First we will look at Jet mode, which I believe is based off of a real Boeing 777-300 passenger jet. The decoration is the same as the real ANA jet. ANA stands for All Nippon Airways. This was a very close collaboration with TakaraTomy and ANA in that the episode that features this jet was available in a special version on ANA flights from October 1 2023. In addition to the regular retail channels, this toy was also sold in ANA gift shops in Japanese airports.
The official press release states: “This collaboration is based on the overlapping desire of ANA to increase children’s familiarity with ANA airplanes and the desire of TOMY Company to make airplanes, which are children’s favorite working vehicles, a reality in the world of
Jobraver.”
Anyway, it’s super cool! The jet measures 18 inches long with a 16 inch wingspan.
The landing gear can fold up for flight mode.
The central section can open to reveal a storage compartment with an action gimmick. A cargo container of Jobraver car can be loaded into this compartment and then launched with a push of a button.
The cargo container is on wheels, but can be opened to store an included adapter or other Jobraver parts.
Three Jobroids are included with this set.
Pilot Jobroid Tsubasa
CA Jobroid Sekai (CA = Cabin Attendant)
CA Jobroid Musubu
The pilot necomes the head of Sky Braver, and the other CA Jobroids become the… thighs? Yep. To transform, the whole thing needs to be broken down into it’s component parts. Transformation is simple but engaging, with the result being an amazing robot mode.
The end result is a monster of a robot, standing in at 14 inches tall (36 cm). Not only is it huge, but it is extremely poseable, with tight clicky joints!
Note the ANA logo on the head crest.
There’s a waist joint, and the hip skirts move.
Just look at the range of motion for this big boy. Incredible movement for such a large toy.
The tail section unfolds to become a gun, and the cargo container acts as a shield!
Here he is with Police Braver with Koban Armor. Police Braver (or Fire Braver) can use parts of Sky Braver to power up.
Here is Gigant Police Braver Another Sky Mode! This uses the wings and an adapter to attach the parts. Sadly he becomes very top heavy and likes to topple over at the waist. You can get him to stand, but it is tricky!
The set is super fun, but If I had any complaints, it would be the continued issue of Tomica stickers not wanting to adhere to curved surfaces. There are a few areas where the stickers need to wrap around a corner and they just do not stick. However, as these are paper stickers, once they are down you cannot reposition them, so you better get it right the first time!
Otherwise, I love this set. Highly recomended.
