Fantastic Idea Astronaut Panda
I love the cutaway building kits from JMBricklayer, and the Fantastic Idea Astronaut Panda is another excellent addition to the line. Consisting of 829 parts, this futuristic Panda is 50% cute, 50% machine!

The box is nice and colorful – this one seems to be co-branded with Wekki, another brick manufacturer.
The kit takes about 4 hours to assemble. Assembly was not too difficult, but uses some interesting build techniques and a few custom parts. There were no missing parts for this kit. The only difficulty I had were in the final steps of assembling the helmet as there are a few one-stud connections that you have to be mindful about. But overall it was a great build and it looks great on the shelf.
I think that the clear dome and panda face are special parts unique to this set. Check out our video below to see a time-lapse of the build.
The finished panda stands 8.5″ tall and features moveable arms and fingers. The clear dome is removable, but the helmet is not.
The panda is fixed to the base and cannot be removed.
The mechanical detail is nice, but I think this was done by a different designer than the other cutaway models. After doing a bunch of these, you can begin to tell the building styles of different designers. This one is just as nice as the others but some of the techniques are different. This is a much easier build than the other cutaway kits.
There were a lot of stickers to apply, but there was also an equal amount of pre-printed parts. I wonder why some parts get printed and others get stickers? I have no idea.
