DX Fiverobo

Original MSRP: 4,950
Toy Number: GC-27

I never had any intention of picking up these boxy Sentai bots from the late 80s, but I attended an auction recently and I picked this one up with the intention of selling it. However, once I took it out I fell in love, and that’s how the DX Chogokin Fiverobo GREAT IN BOX became part of my collection.

Fiverobo comes from the 14th Super Sentai series, entitled Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman, which aired from 1990-1991.

The box proudly displays the DX Chogokin branding, and is dubbed GC-27. If there is any toy that has earned it’s Chogokin moniker, it’s this one. It’s got colorful graphics on the front and sides, as well as the mandatory carrying handle on the side. The back side is blank.

It’s still got a pricetag from when it was sold in a Comic store that is reasonably close to me called the Outer Limits. It’s still in business today in Waltham Massachusetts.

Lets start with the component vehicles.

Sky Alpha

In addition to becoming the chest of Fiverobo, Skyalpha can transform into a jet as well as a truck. There’s not a lot of metal in this unit, with the metal being relegated to connector bars and the like.

Carrier Beta

Carrier Beta is an armored transport that can transform into a trailer that can haul Land Gamma. It’s very heavy and full of glorious diecast metal.

Land Gamma

This small assault vehicle doesn’t have any metal but it does feature rubber tires, the only vehicle in this set to do so. The two cannons on the roof are removable, and there is an alternate set of double-barrel cannons included.

Fiverobo

To form five robo, start with Land Gamma. The cab of the vehicle separates in half and is folded backwards, leaving the bottom half intact. The feet pull out and flip up. The front section then rotates 180 degrees and then a part pulls down to become the waist section.

From Sky Alpha in vehicle mode, open the panel on the back and flip out the head.

Split Land Gamma in half and unfold the hands and connector pegs.
