Shinkalion E7 Kagayaki

Original MSRP: 9.99

Shinkalion is an anime based on bullet trains that transform into robots.

They come in 4×6-inch boxes, and sell for about $10 each. Inside all the parts are in baggies.

This robot transforms into the E7 Kagayaki, a Shinkansen Train. E7 is the type of train car, and Kagayaki is the Line this train runs on. It runs between Tokyo and Hanazawa station in Japan, and is the fastest service operating on the Hokuriku Shinkansen line. In the Shinkalion series, it’s the third Shinkalion of the Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute, piloted by Tsuranuki Daimonyama.

While TakaraTomy made Pla-rail compatible toys of the series, F-Toys made these smaller candy toy versions. They come in these nice boxes, and are packed with a piece of gum so it counts as a “candy toy”.

There are a few sprues, stickers and instructions. Assembly takes about 15 minutes and about another 10 for the stickers. The result is pretty good looking for a candy toy!

The end result is about 5 inches tall and sports 13 points of articulation.

The toy transforms into a 2-part train, but the seam lines do not line up well, at least for the car that makes up the lower half of the robot. The panels that become the feet do not like to fit flush with the rest of it. The two cars connect via a peg on one of them.
