G2 Alpha Male with Dome Robot Walker
The level of creativity that comes from the designers at Stikfas really amazes me. They have taken a really simple concept, and continue to come out with fresh original ideas.
The G2 Alpha Male with Dome Robot Walker is the latest of the larger Stikfas sets. These sets not only include a Stikfas figure, but they also come with some kind of vehicle or accessory. In this case, it is a Giant Domed walker.
Like all Stikfas, this figure comes unassembled. There are 2 bags of parts. One bag has all the parts of the green G2 Alpha Male figure, the other has the parts for the Dome Robot Walker. Also included in the package is a sticker sheet and Instructions. Each bag has a zip-lock top, so you can use these bags to store the spare parts you always seem to have with Stikfas figures.
Assembling the figure is relatively easy, but could be made easier by including step-by-step instructions. For now, you get an expanded diagram that shows what part goes where. Each part needs to be cut off of the sprue with some kind of hobby knife or clippers. If you just try to bend the parts off, you will be left with ugly white stress marks all over the toy.
It is important to note that there is an ERROR on the instructions included with this toy. There are two rings included that are not mentioned on the instruction sheet, nor are they shown on the package. These rings are meant to tighten the ball joint connections to the legs of the walker. Please see the diagram on the official Stikfas website for details on where they go. Unfortunately, I did not know about this at the time I shot the images for this review.
The Dome Walker is an articulated walker that seats one Stikfas figure. It has fully articulated arms and legs, as well as a cockpit with many movable parts.
The cockpit has a movable seat, control arms, and foot pedals. The foot pedals have pegs in them so you can securely attach the figure. To make your life easier, I would take the foot pedals off of the cockpit, attach them to the figure, then re-attach them once the figure is seated.
The rear of the Dome Walker has an exhaust-type assembly. The Dome Walker can also grip either of the two included accessories – a ray gun and a vacuum cleaner.
A vacuum cleaner?
The included figure is a G2 Alpha Male type – larger and more articulated than the classic Stikfas figures.
This figure can be put in almost any pose imaginable. The figure comes with a variety of alternate parts to allow it to use accessories from other Stikfas figures.
The G2 Alpha Male is supposed to sit in the cockpit of the Dome Walker, but it is a tight fit. You can do it, but it is tough to not make the figure look squished. Once you get it, it looks awesome.
I think that this is a great little figure, but a couple of things could have been done a little better. First off, the figure is cramped in the driver’s seat. It is difficult to get the feet attached to the foot pedals, and then somehow find room for the control arms. Once you get it to work, it looks fine. Second, the fit for these parts is REALLY tight. Putting the small hands into the forearms required a lot of force, and I even ended up putting stress marks on one of the hands because of it. I guess that is the trade-off for the stiff poses.
Overall, this is a cool toy, and a fantastic bargain at only about 20 bucks.
