Getter Poseidon

Original MSRP: 32,800

Getter Poseidon is the third release in the series of Getter Robo G designs re-imagined by the late Professor Robo Sato. As you well know by now, Fewture has taken his sketches and created released them as part of the high-end EX Gokin line. It seems as if Fewture was saving the best for last.

Getter Poseidon is amazing. Flawless. Beautiful. It is a work of fine craftsmanship that still functions as a toy.

I didn’t shoot the box but it is the standard EX Gokin fare, this time in orange. I just wanted to get right to the toy. I tore it open like a kid opening presents on Christmas morning. Lucky for me, Getter Poseidon comes mostly assembled.

Rather than gush, let’s just get right into it.

The panels on Poseidon’s chest open up to reveal banks of missiles.

The big cowl lifts up to reveal the Poseidon Hurricane weapon. This disc spins, but not freely.

While the cowl is up, you can open the chest to reveal the Getter Core. The core is removable and there’s some real nice detail in the chest cavity.

Like the other entries in Sato’s EX Gokin Getter’s, Poseidon also has a removable face mask. Behind the mask is a creepy skull face with an articulated jaw.

Having the cowl up also gives you a good look at the articulation in the shoulder. The shoulders swing forward and back, rotate, and swing out. The shoulder pad is also movable.

The elbows bend (not a double joint) and the bicep swivels. The silver gear part can move independently. The hands are on ball joints that are rather tough to remove.

P4150612.jpg

Variant open hands are included that actually have movable fingers. Each finger has a tiny ball joint but movement is limited.

The back of the figure features two large missiles which sadly do not fire. They need to be attached to the figure before display, and are all plastic. They look cool though.

The three reactor coils are metal and need to be attached to the back. The bottom one has a neat feature where if you twist the waist, the entire assembly moves side to side.

Getter Poseidon is ready for action!

The feet are remarkable. There are independent pistons and a universal joint that clicks in all directions.

P4150618.jpg

The bottom of the feet has some insane detail like the giant fan blades and boosters. You can bend the heel to see a bit more.

P4150619.jpg

While not super-poseable, Getter Poseidon gets the job done.

P4150620.jpg

The lower legs are detachable and can be replaced with a set of caterpillar treads that really roll. They also have the pistons and clicky joint of the regular feet. They are amazing!

Poseidon in his ship form is also included, and its body is a nice chunk of diecast. Nothing moves on it, but there is a reactor coil on the bottom.

P4150630.jpgP4150631.jpgP4150632.jpgP4150633.jpgP4150634.jpg

The same stand is included that came with the last SEVEN EX Gokin releases, so I didn’t bother to remove it from the package. It’s unnecessary for this release.

Bonus Item

If you pre-ordered all three Getters, with Poseidon you get an extra weapon set for Getter Dragon – the Double G Tomahawk. This set includes two tomahawks and an extra set of hands for Getter Dragon.

P4150635.jpgP4150636.jpg

The Tomahawks can be used as Tomahawks with the pointy tips attached.

P4150637.jpgP4150638.jpgP4150639.jpg

They can also be used as guns with the gun barrels attached. The Tomahawk grip bends to become the handle of the gun.

P4150640.jpgP4150641.jpgP4150642.jpgP4150643.jpg

What else needs to be said about this set really? If you have the other two, you NEED this one. Seeing all three together is an amazing experience.
