Green Lion
Heyyy it’s the Green Lion, a lot like the Red lion, just on the other side.
While I really enjoyed the reboot of Voltron, dubbed “Legendary Defender”, nothing can replace the original. Playmates Toys understands this, and has released a “Voltron 84” collection of classic-styled, combining lions, in the same size and form as the Legendary Defender.

The toy comes packaged in a basic, but large blister card. There are a rather unnecessary amount of twist ties that need to be removed before you can free the toy from its plastic prison.

The Green Lion was the only lion I had QC issues with. When I got mine, the head had fused to the neck with excess silver paint. I actually needed to use some pliers to free it up. Once free it rotated like it should.
The body sculpt is unique but the head and legs all share parts from the Red Lion. But that’s pretty accurate to the actual character so it’s not a drawback.
These smaller lions can do a decent sitting pose, but it could be better with extra neck articulation.
Green Lion comes with some accessories that can attach to the lion.
The mouth blade tabs into the roof of the lion’s mouth
The missile launcher can shoot a single missile with decent force, but the missile is kind of ugly. I don’t get the flat base of the missile, and why they could not match the shape to the launcher.
Whatever this little grenade is, it clips onto the back legs.
This lion is packed in with the Blazing Shield, but we’ll check that out with the combined Voltron soon!
