Street Heat
Street Heat is the Gobots version of the Machine Robo Hotrod Robo. The original Machine Robo release is blue with flame decals. Tonka decided to recolor the toy for the US market. It was also released in blue in the European Robo Machines line.
The car is based off of a heavily modified Camaro Z28. The large rear tires, air intake and spoiler really make this otherwise realistic car mode quite cartoonish.
Being a later release, this Gobot has a different feel than the others. The construction and design feel more like a Transformer than a Gobot.
Most of the toy is hard plastic with sharp molding. Metal is for the chest and the upper legs. While the earlier Machine Robo toys had rubber tires, this one has hard plastic.
For transformation, the legs swing out and down and the arms pull out from the side. The hood flips down to reveal a wonderful chrome head.
Robot mode is really nice for this one; it has really great proportions. It just feels good, you can tell this is a quality toy meant to last.
