Iron Giant

Original MSRP: 19.99

This new Iron Giant toy came out of nowhere in early 2020. It was manufactured by a Chinese company called Goldlok, exclusively for Wal-Mart. It’s such a suprise, not just because of it’s sudden appearance, but the fact that it’s only $20 at retail.

The toy comes packed in an open box with a try-me feature. Press the button on his belly to hear lights and sounds.

The toy stands a remarkable 14″ tall, and is made out of sturdy ABS plastic. It does not feel cheap at all, and I think the ages 3+ label is totally appropriate.

Articulation is limited to the shoulders, elbows and hands. The legs do move if you click them out a bit, but i’d be cautious about breaking the walking mechanism.

Iron Giant

The toy takes 4 AA batteries (included). The speaker and switch is on the back. In the top position, you just get lights and sound from the head. This is the “try me” position. Putting the switch in the bottom position enables the lights, sounds, and walking feature.

Pressing the button on the stomach causes the eyes to light up, and the figure starts walking forward. One of two sound effects also plays. But wait, there’s more.

Iron Giant

Open the chest to reveal the “evil mode” weapon. Press the center in and the weapon lights up, the eyes turn red, and an attack sound is made. It’s amazing. An it’s ONLY TWENTY DOLLARS.

Here he is in comparison to some other Iron Giant releases. I can’t stress this enough, do not hesitate to go out and get one of these. He’s so great.
