Judo Robo
Judo Robo was one of five “fighting” robots released in the Machine Robo Line. In all, they released:
- KR-01/C-1 Karate Robo
- KR-02/C-2 Jûdô Robo
- KR-03/C-3 Wrestler Robo
- C-4 Kendô Robo
- C-5 Kenpô Robo
- C-6 Boxer Robo
The first release of the line had the “KR” designation and only had 3 releases. To coincide with the Revenge of Chronos TV series, the original 3 were released and three new ones added, now with “C” prefixes. This particular one is from the C series – designated C-2 – Judo Robo.
The box is beautiful as is usually the case with Machine Robo releases. While the box depicts two Judo robots, only one is included.
Here’s what’s included, nestled in a wonderful styrofoam tray.
The instructions have a note for parents as well as a note for kids from the “Bandai Living Classroom”:
Judo Robo has a diecast body with everything else being plastic. It’s really well articulated for the time it was released, but missing some modern articulation hallmarks like swivel ankles and ab crunch. Some of the joints are VERY tight, so use caution as toys like this can get brittle with age.
The car is a shell that the figure folds up into. It’s got great styling and real rubber tires. The blue plastic makes me nervous as that does not age well and gets brittle.
The inside is hollow, with various panels to open to allow storage for Judo Robo.
And that’s about all there is to him. You can also stand the figure up and use the car as a sort of coat, but it’s very top heavy and doesn’t stand well. They are fun little oddities in the Machine Robo line. I’ve got 3 out of the 6, so the hunt is on!
